Over a three week period 62 comments cards were given out to patients at point of discharge, 41 patients completed the comments cards and 21 patients declined to comment.

Response rate 66%

95% of patients who responded would recommend ward 34 to family and friends.

98% of patients who responded felt that they had always been treated with dignity and respect.

ACTION - This is not a common concern on ward 34 however in response to this we have had a drive on ensuring that the pain assessment charts are updated and acted upon / Not if they have to suffer the same pain barrier as me / Yes

ACTION - Head of Catering has been a frequent visitor to ward 31 and 34 to address some of the issues. The staff on ward 34 work hard to ensure that patients receive what they ask for but it is not always provided by catering / Yes / Yes / The staff were very nice and made me feel very welcome

ACTION - We endeavour to ensure that the appropriate levels of staff are available each shift, however occasionally, notice of sickness is given at short notice and we are unable to cover it. The staff in these instances prioritise the patient care. Occasionally we can receive help from other areas, but this is not always possible / Yes / Yes with a very difficult job at times

ACTION - There is a new protocol available within the trust for the care of patients who are insulin dependent diabetics and who require theatre. The staff on ward 34 are familiar with it and use it frequently. We are also very happy for patients who are insulin dependent to administer their own insulin with the appropriate support. They can also hav access to the diabetic liaison nursed if they wish. / Definitely / Yes

ACTION - Unfortunately the buzzer is loud but we need to have it loud so that we can here it from one end of the ward to the other.
We normally have access to a ward doctor however again occasionally if sickness occurs it can be difficult organising cover at short notice therefore the remaining doctors prioritise their workload. / Yes better than Carlisle hospital I think this hospital is superb / Yes if I every break another leg I would like to come back / Dr Jerez is a genius the work on my leg is second to none he fixed me up and saved my leg I owe most of my thanks to him
