Faculty Development Programme at I.T.S Ghaziabad in association with MTU Noida & NASSCOM Regional Council Noida

A Faculty Development Programme for the faculty members of affiliated institutes of Mahamaya Technical University, Noida was organized at I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad campus on 27th April, 2013. The event was organized in association with MTU Noida and NASSCOM Regional Council Noida with an objective to provide faculty members of professional and engineering institutions with the latest researches & developments taking place in the industry and to help them in identifying the gaps, which needs to be bridge in order to increase the employability of graduating students.

I.T.S Ghaziabad, established in 1995, has been instrumental in taking such initiatives and organizing such events which can add value to faculty and its students. In past, sessions by internationally renowned researchers and academicians, has been a regular activity at the institute. This has immensely helped the faculty members not only of I.T.S Ghaziabad but for the faculty members of other institutes from far off places in increasing their knowledge base and finding newer areas of research. This faculty development programme was one step further in this process. The event was formally inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) A.K. Puri, Director General – I.T.S Ghaziabad and Prof. (Dr.) B.K. Gupta, Chairman – Centre for Professional Counselling of MTU Noida. In his welcome address, Dr. Puri welcomed the guests and delegates and said that considering the fast changing world of technology, it is very important for all of us to keep close watch on these developments & changes so that we keep ourselves relevant. In his address, Dr. Puri stressed upon the need of continuous upgradation and exploration of thoughts, ideas & technologies which can keep us relevant in this fast changing scenario. Dr. Puri said that we, as a faculty, should put our efforts in leading the changes for industry rather than being just a follower of what is happening and that is way we can see creativity and innovations.

Dr. B. K. Gupta, in his address, briefed about the objectives and initiatives of Centre for Professional Counselling at MTU Noida. Dr. Gupta, while briefing about the event, said that there is a strong need for faculty members to regularly keep themselves updated about the futuristic requirements. Dr. Gupta also announced that a faculty development programme to help the faculty members in writing good quality research papers in under consideration by CPC.

Earlier, Chairperson of MCA Programme Prof. Sunil Kr Pandey presented a brief about the institute and thanked to the participants & guests. Thereafter Prof. Puja Dhar presented a brief of event.

After the inauguration ceremony, the event was divided into four sessions. In the first session, Ms. Prema from Nucleolus Software, Noida conducted a session on identifying the Gap between academia and industry. In her address Ms. Pream said that the gap is not only in Industry and academia but the gap is widening even in Industry today. This is posing bigger challenge before the industry for survival of many organizations. These rapid changes are becoming regular and that’s where it is becoming challenging for the companies to respond to these changes on very frequently.

The second and third sessions were dedicated for the technological perspectives. Mr. Ankur Chaturvedi from Nucleolus Software, Noida spoke on Technology in Business and correlated the faculty concerns related to it. Mr. Chaurvedi, in his address, said that the way technology is changing and older methods, tools, technologies and principals are replaced by newer ones, industry is looking towards academic community with high hopes who can visualize the future needs and work for preparing ready to serve professionals for industry in this rapidly changing scenario. This is posing bigger responsibilities on faculty members who are instrumental in preparing and shaping these graduating students.

The last session was dedicated on Software Testing in which Ms. Shobhra from SOPRA Group discussed the issues related to Quality Control and Quality Assurance. Responding to the queries of participants, she said that quality of an application has become standard for delivery of projects. In her address she spoke on Testing Process & Techniques and available career options for students in this field.

On this occasion, more than 100 faculty members from various institutes participated in this faculty development programme.
