Community Youth Hub Coordinator

(Temporary, FTE negotiable with the school – 25 hours week)

Your opportunity:

As the Community Youth Hub Coordinator you will assist in the development of school and community links, and provision of information and support on education related issues to facilitate children’s engagement in the introduction to school.

The Community Youth Hub Coordinator reports to the Principal in relation to administrative issues. Although there are no subordinates reporting to this position, clerical and other assistance may be provided as negotiated with the principal. Carry out all other duties consistent with the strategic direction of the school and Community Hub Partnership.

Your role:

You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:

·  Develop and implement strategies for effective community networks and partnerships between key stakeholders in the local area to encourage a positive, inviting introduction to school.

·  Ensure that communities and children are involved in the design and implementation of tailored well-being programs.

·  Develop a communications strategy to ensure families in the community are well aware of opportunities created and are engaged with the hub activities.

·  Ensure integration of the Community Youth Hub activities with the range of programs and services in the community.

·  Facilitate suitable consultative mechanisms and procedures to provide effective coordination and collaboration across local, state and federal government funded services that will make a difference in delivering well-being programs.

·  Interact positively with parents, students, colleagues and community members, including the on-site kindergarten.

·  Have knowledge and connection to local supports and services, school routines and procedures.

·  Strengthen social cohesion through joined-up networks between and across communities.

·  Carry out administrative tasks associated with the position's duties, including clerical duties related to writing and responding to correspondence in addition to facilitating reporting and evaluation as required.

Demonstrated experience and understanding of the issues (particularly dis-engagement) experienced by young people, including those of refugee and migrant backgrounds, and their families.

Have a strong understanding of the needs of children in complex, culturally diverse, low socioeconomic communities and the variety of ways in which employment pathways need to be shaped to suit children in these environments through the implementation of innovative programs.

3.  Supports productive working relationships

Knowledge of effective support networks for children and demonstrated success in facilitating change, managing stakeholders and collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders to meet required outcomes.

4.  Displays personal drive and integrity

Demonstrated personal qualities and commitment to working with children, families and stakeholders to facilitate change, collaborating in a community development framework.

5.  Communicates with influence

Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with a diverse range of persons and stakeholders including migrant and refugee students and their families.
