Instructional Leader (Head Teacher)

Expressions of interest are invited from teachers interested in a career opportunity relieving in the position of Instructional Leader from Week 6, Term 4 2016 until Week 5, Term 4 2017 (with the possibility of an extension). Classroom teachers (primary and secondary) and head teachers are encouraged to consider submitting the Expression of Interest. The position with be located at:

The Instructional Leader will develop the instructional capacity of staff whilst focussing on improving the literacy and numeracy acquisition of all students.

An expression of interest addressing the criteria, of no more than 4 pages in length should be submitted to by 4:00pm Friday 14 October 2016.

Statement of duties

§  Use NAPLAN and PLAN data to drive improvements in literacy and numeracy across all KLAs

§  Work collaboratively with Instructional Leaders across our Community of Schools to drive improvements in literacy and numeracy for all students across our CoS

§  Use data to map students to the literacy and numeracy continuums and track progress

§  Work in collaboration with the LaST and the LST to devise strategies, interventions and programs to improve the literacy and numeracy achievements of all students

§  Build teacher capacity to identify the literacy and numeracy needs of students in our setting

§  Deliver relevant teacher professional learning to all staff to build the capacity of all staff

§  Develop staff to deliver differentiated instruction to improve the literacy and numeracy achievements of our students

§  Team teach in a variety of classroom settings to improve classroom instruction

§  Monitor milestones in the School Plan to reflect the effectiveness of strategies and interventions for all students

§  Provide instruction to all staff on quality teaching and pedagogy

§  Develop an Action Plan to outline why, how and what of instructional leadership at AHS

Selection criteria

§  Teaching qualifications and recent school based experience.

§  Proven successful experience in leading the improvement of learning outcomes in literacy and numeracy

§  Demonstrated deep understanding of current research in effective instructional leadership and effective high quality literacy and numeracy acquisition

§  Demonstrated experience in the provision of high quality differentiated professional learning that has enhanced teacher capacity in improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for students

§  Demonstrated capacity to work alongside teachers to both model and support teaching and assessment skills in literacy and numeracy

§  Outstanding communication skills with the demonstrated capacity to contribute to building and strengthening a collaborative learning culture

Remuneration

This position will be paid at Head Teacher level - valued at $121,778.00. This position attracts a base salary of $109,867.00, plus leave loading and employer's contribution to superannuation.

One of the referees listed must be the applicant’s current principal or supervisor for non-school-based staff. Expressions of interest must not exceed 4 A4 pages and require the signature of the applicant’s current principal or supervisor. .
