When I retire completely, I will join ASURA. Please contact with if you have further questions. Howard Nelson. . 480-213-2162 (mobile)
  7. I returned to full-time employment with ASU the end of 2013. I think you could send out monthly news to our e mails. You would keep the ASU retirees in the loop and encourage them to join. The e mail would cost only the set up time and energy. I also would like to know if you are still interested in collecting & selling text books, etc.? If only the working faculty and all depts. knew that you would collect the books and use a service to make $.
  8. Nothing to Offer

  16. I think you are doing a fine job of reaching out.
  17. One of the problems is parking. If I come to campus it costs $2.00 an hour to ark in visitor parking at Fulton or PS1. I would like to attend seminars and lectures but parking is a definite problem. Let me know about meetings etc. I will try to attend if possible. Richard Lemon.
  18. Other
  19. I disliked the planning meeting, not AU. I graduated from ASU twice and was staff for 30 years. The planning meeting was poorly run and full of misinformation. After a certain point I just tuned it all out. I was not impressed by the fly-by, brief presentation from ASURA.

Question 4 - Please supply any comments you have on why you originally joined ASURA and why you are no longer a member

Open-Ended Response

Organized by Topic

  1. Getting Old
  2. We have moved back to Indiana October 2013. I am caring for my husband who is very ill. I do not have any time to take part in any kind of programs and of course since we have moved out of state. As a caretaker I am very busy. Thank you. Geraldine Casteel
  3. I've had 3 strokes and lost my license after the second... had to live in a senior living home. I've been in Legacy Assisted Living center at 5625 E. McKellips Rd in Mesa since last May. (was 1007 E Southern, Mesa) Dale Griffin
  4. I retired from ASU at age 65 in 1990! I live in the East Valley beyond Power Road. Tempe is a ways away and my husband now has problems walking. We keep busy closer to home, but do attend cultural events in the East Valley. And by now many of the folks I knew at ASU have moved or died. I don't see many when I come to your meetings of lately, usually we came to the one bug session in February but lately did not do that either. Thank for asking!
  5. We are getting on in age, totally occupied with health issues and limited ability to drive or otherwise travel the distance from NW Valley to campus. Sincerely, Wm. C. (last name unsure of)
  6. I moved to south Gilbert and don't drive that far. People I knew all dropped out, died or moved away. ASU campus has become a zoo. Can't find my way around. Parking is a puzzle. No longer interested. S. Anderson
  7. I did enjoy the retiresAssoc when I was able physically.
  8. Walter Dollbaum is deceased and I don't need your services. Thank you Mrs. Dollbaum. Every time I turn around someone wants money.
  9. Joining was simply the next step after retirement for my colleague and best friend and me in 1988. Eventually, however, she lost interest and I didn't feel like attending the luncheons and presentations alone. Now I am 90 years old and there are very few people left I used to know. I enjoyed being a member very much. Sincerely, Gertrud B Schuback
  10. My wife has health problems that cause me to stay home to help as a caregiver.
  11. I joined ASURA when retired in 1982. I am now 91 and can no longer participate. Lois Whitehurst
  12. ASURA is and was a fine organization but finally aging is a problem. I am 90 now and no longer drive. My hearing is diminished and I walk with a walker. I read the Newsletter but bot the e mail. My wife would appreciate no e mail at all since she doesn't have time to clear the constant stream of notices that fill our pixels. It seems looking to younger retirees would be a better place to recruit. Yours sincerely, Eugene Lombardi
  13. I have a vision problem and am no longer driving.
  14. Offers Little
  15. It didn't offer me events that met my needs
  16. I joined at a time when the health insurance situation was changing rapidly, and attended several ASURA seminars, which were moderately helpful. But after that there didn't seem to be much else that caught my attention, and I let my membership lapse. Since then I've seen some of the travel ASURA plans, and -- who knows? -- I might get interested in that.
  17. Just not interested, thanks.
  18. We spend much of our time away from Arizona, and even when here I don't take advantage of opportunities offered by ASURA.
  19. I originally joined because my husband was a retiree from ASU. When he passed away in 2006 I did not care to renew. Mrs. Dolores Kaplin
  20. Walter Dollbaum is deceased and I don't need your services. Thank you Mrs. Dollbaum. Every time I turn around someone wants money.
  21. Not sure. Thought I would see if there was anything might gain from it. Wasn't the case.
  22. Busy
  23. I've been preoccupied with other issues since I retired May rejoin in 2014 now that my life is getting less complicated.
  24. too busy
  25. I still work full time running my firm so will not be active
  26. My days are very busy, I don't have time to attend meetings
  27. Will Renew
  28. Please send another membership form and I will renew, thanks. Dr. Sylvia Gaines 3602 N 49th St. Phoenix AZ 85018
  29. Did not know I was a "former member." What are the dues? Still want to support the org. I still work full time running my firm so will not be active. Robert Wyndelts.
  30. I am still a member just did not follow through on sending my.... Office note... sentence trails off. Note on form says she did send in a membership check.
  31. Other
  32. To support ASURA Thank you Mrs. DaleAnn Hellmann
