Equipping Schools with ICT Labs

Background:

Mobilink and Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) have entered into a partnership to support Education in Pakistan. Under this partnership Mobilink will provide state-of-the-art ICT labs to selected schools adopted by PCP certified Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and/or Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).This social investment project is being carried out by Mobilink under its ‘Make Your Mark’ (MYM) ICT Enhancement Program to support and uplift the local education sector.

PCP as the project partner will recommend the schools in need of these ICT labs and will be responsible for the due diligence of the CSOs by ensuring that the recipients are serving marginalized social classes. PCP is a specialized intermediary institution dedicated to promoting national philanthropy for social development. As part of its endeavor to promoting philanthropic culture in the country, the Centre is engaged with all the three segments of society to help them work in a strengthened partnership for social development.

Eligibility Criteria for the Applicant CSO:

a)The applicant CSO is certified by PCP and the certification is valid till August 2016 - OR- the NGO/CSO has applied for the renewal of its certificate

b)The applicant CSO has at least 3 years’ experience of working in the Education sector.

c)The CSO has resources and capacity to sustain the computer labs beyond the project period.

Eligibility Criteria for the Beneficiary School:

a)The beneficiary schoolsshallhave required infrastructure and human resource for the establishment of ICT Lab.

b)The beneficiary schools shall be in marginalized area or serving children of marginalized communities.

c)The beneficiary schools shall haveat least 150 students, a functional school management committee and other monitoring and support mechanism in place.

d)The beneficiary schools are situated in any of the following areas: Sindh, Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Gilgit Baltistan and/or AJK

ProjectProcess:

a)PCP will review applications, conduct pre-award due diligence and identify schools for the provision of ICT labs.

b)PCP and Mobilink will jointly finalize the list of schools.

c)PCP will seek consent form the selected CSOs on the terms and conditions of the contract

d)Agreed contracts will be signed by the selected CSOs and Mobilink

e)Project activities shall be carried out as per the agreed contracts.
