Describe the aims, objectives or purposes of the Policy or Service / PGN clarifies the position with regard to who is responsible for implementing the recommendations made by Dysphagia Practitioners about eating and drinking difficulties and when to seek advice. Dysphagia Practitioners are qualified Speech and Language Therapists or Nurses, who have completed additional training to enable them to assess, diagnosis and implement intervention plans for people with swallowing difficulties

Disabled People DP / Positive - All staff will need to be fully aware of and understand the specifics of any care plans and risk assessments related to eating and drinking. It is the responsibility of the service provider to ensure dysphagia recommendations are accessible to all staff at all times. It is the responsibility of the Dysphagia Practitioner to provide relevant training related to eating, drinking and swallowing with a focus on the particular needs of the individual.
