Kids Spectacular Event Poster Contest

New Story Monroeville School invites all Pittsburgh areachildren from ages 5 - 17 to showcase their artistic talent by participating in the first Kids Spectacular Event Poster Contest. This poster contest will help the Kids Spectacular Event Committee select a child’s artwork to be featured on promotional material for the second annual event.

The Kids Spectacular Event will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the New Story Monroeville School, 715 Bilberry Road, Monroeville, PA, 15146. The event is held annually as a fundraiser in support of the Autism Speaks Pittsburgh Walk.

The grand prize winnerwill receive the honor of having his or her artwork featured on the posters and other promotional materials for theKids Spectacular Event which will be distributed throughout the area. The winner will also receive a $50 gift card for Toys ‘R Us and a New Story gift bag. Honor mentions will be on display during the Kids Spectacular Event and will receive a New Story gift pack.

Please read the poster contest rules carefully, as only posters that meet the contest rules will be considered. Send your entry to the following address:

POSTER CONTEST RULES

Eligibility:

All children ages 5 - 17. Immediate family member of New Story employees are ineligible.

Themes:

The Kids Spectacular Event Poster Contest entries can use but are not limited to the following themes:

  • Raising Funds and Awareness About Autism
  • Family Fun Day
  • Amazing Kids
  • Autism Symbol of Puzzle Pieces

Poster Requirements:

Posters created by students must be their own original artwork. Copyrighted characters (such as Superman, Sponge Bob, etc.) or copyrighted clip art will not be accepted.

Materials:

Students may use a variety of media, such as watercolor, pen and ink, crayon, chalk, markers, etc. Brighter colors, however, reproduce better for the poster, light pencil marks may not show up. Students are encouraged to incorporate Autism Awareness into their creations. Students should not use any wording within their artwork.

Size & Layout:

Finished artwork size: 8 ½" x 11" (vertical or horizontal)

Judging Procedure:

One entry per child and each poster must have a completedEntry/Release Form securely attached to the back of the poster. A poster not accompanied by a completed Entry/Release Form will be ineligible. Posterswith Entry/Release Forms, must be mailed or delivered by March 23, 2012 to:

Judging Criteria:

  1. Creativity, originality and artistic quality
  2. Visual clarity - easily understood
  3. Reflection of the Kids Spectacular Event
  4. Bright and colorful.

Awards:

Each participant will receive a Certificate of Recognitionto acknowledge their effort and an invitation to attend the Kids Spectacular Event on April 28, 2012.

Honorable Mentions:

Honorable Mentions will receive a "Certificate of Accomplishment", a New Story gift pack and an invitation to attend the Kids Spectacular Event on April 28, 2012. In addition, each student will have their artwork displayed during the Kids Spectacular Event.

Grand Prize Winner:

The grand prize winnerwill receive the honor of having his or her artwork featured on the posters and other promotional materials for theKids Spectacular Event which will be distributed throughout the area. The winner will also receive a framed print of the final poster, $50 gift card for Toys ‘R Us and a New Story gift bag. The winner will be invited as a special guest for the Kids Spectacular Event on April 28, 2012.

Please Remember:

  • Entries must meet the poster requirements specified above, and must have the Entry/Release Form securely fastened to the back of the poster.
  • All artwork submitted becomes the property of the New Story, and may be reproduced.
