What is a MAP Certified Candidate?

Nearly four years ago, MAP created the Job Ready Program with the input of 22 manufacturing companieswho told us what they werenot getting from the individuals they had previously hired. “Find people with work ethic and we’ll train them ourselves,” was what they told us, and that is the criterion we used in creating this program. In addition, all Job Ready graduates must meet with a Board of no less than three manufacturers (usually owners) who interview each graduate and score them on attendance, academic progress, and behavior (assessments provided by instructors). If a candidate is certified, this means that each member of the Board has agreed to this standard: “That the candidate in question is someone they would either hire themselves or personally recommend to another manufacturer for strong consideration.” Throughout their 12-week course, candidates work on skills such as reading, shop skills, conflict resolution, team building, problem solving, self-management and responsibility. When you interview a MAP certified candidate, you can be sure that we’ve saved you time by filtering out the wrong choices. All we ask is that you give our certified candidates a chance. Their resumes might not reflect exactly what you’re used to seeing (many have never worked in manufacturing before)butwe offer you a new kind of candidate - one who is dependable and wants to work. If you get thatfrom a new employee – you’ve got something worth investing in.
