STUDENT LEADERSHIP TEAM – Job Descriptions

Elected Officers(Student Board)

President

·Serve as chief representative of student membership

·Preside at meetings of student board

·Act as liaison to the directors in voicing student concerns and issues

·Consistently set positive tone for the group through example, words, and actions

·Assist the creative team in maintaining order and discipline in rehearsals

·Take leadership of the group in situations when the directors cannot be present

Vice President

·Serve as executive assistant to the President in all board matters

·Act on behalf of the President when (s)he cannot be present

·In cooperation with the student board, plan and execute group social activities

·Consistently set positive tone for the group through example, words, and actions

·Assist the creative team in maintaining order and discipline in rehearsals

Secretary

·Take accurate and thorough attendance in all situations required (rehearsals, performances, trips, etc.) and communicate info with the directors

·Record minutes in all meetings of student board

·Consistently set positive tone for the group through example, words, and actions

·Assist the creative team in maintaining order and discipline in rehearsals

Treasurer

·Collect, accuratelyrecord, and disburse all funds related to student projects in the group

·Assist the Booster Club treasurers in financial matters when called upon

·Consistently set positive tone for the group through example, words, and actions

·Assist the creative team in maintaining order and discipline in rehearsals

Historians (2)

·Take pictures and videos throughout the year to keep an accurate historical record

·Collect memorabilia from other members and parents to produce the annual slide show for the Year-End Banquet

·Regularly & frequently update all group social media accounts(including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)with pictures and information

·Keep the choir's display case updated monthly.

·Consistently set positive tone for the group through example, words, and actions

·Assist the creative team in maintaining order and discipline in rehearsals

Appointed Members(Creative Team)

Vocal Section Leaders

·Know vocal part thoroughly and be able to model for, teach, and constructively critique other members of your section asthey learn and sing their part

·Lead sectional rehearsals when called upon by the directors to do so

·During competition season, take and deliver notes at periodic points in rehearsals as established by the directors to help measure and improve the group’svocal progress

·During competition season, take thorough notes from all vocal judges’ rating sheets and audio recordings and consistently remind the group of the items needing improvement

Dance Captains/Choreographers

·Learn the choreography thoroughly for the competition show as taught by the choreographer and be prepared to model for, teach, and constructively critique other members of the group as they learn and dance their part

·Review the videos of the show being taught as well as all blocking charts to ensure accuracy

·Reteach and clean the choreography from the competition show throughout the season, making adjustments as determined necessary by the choreographer

·Create a video of the dances performed by the dance captains for reference by student membersin their individual preparation time

·Communicate with the directors and choreographer consistently to determine the necessary course of action in rehearsals

·Create staging and visual design for all music chosen by the directors

·In consultation with the directors and other members of that particular show’s creative team, determine costuming, hair, and makeup needs for the event and communicate requirements to the student memberswell in advanceof the performance

Assistant Dance Captains

·Learn the choreography thoroughly for the competition show as taught by the choreographer and be prepared to assist Dance Captains in modeling for, teaching, and constructively critiquing other members of the group as they learn and dance their parts

·Review the videos ofthe show being taught with Dance Captains as well as all blocking charts to ensure accuracy

·Assist Dance captains in answering questions and assist with teaching choreography as needed to keep the flow of rehearsals moving

·Communicate with the directors and Dance Captains consistently to determine the necessary course of action in rehearsals

·Maybe needed to create staging and visual design for some music chosen by the directors

·In consultation with the directors and other members of that particular show’screative team, help determine costuming, hair, and makeup needs for the event and communicate requirements to the student memberswell in advanceof the performance

Fitness Trainers

-Lead the choir in stretching and warming-up prior to dance rehearsals. Focus on building core strength, cardio endurance, and stamina.

-Design a fitness plan that best fits their show choir. Work with the choreographer and dance captains to decide what areas of physical endurance need the most work. Change the fitness plan as needed as the groups progress. Activities may include (but are not limited to) running, Zumba, abdominal workouts, target muscle training, etc.

-Fitness Trainers should be prepared to lead the choirs in 15-30 minutes (this time will vary with each rehearsal) of training at each rehearsal. If they are unable to be present the Assistant Dance Captains need to be told ahead of time and know what exercises to lead the groups in.

Stage Manager

·Take leadership in all instances requiring riser setup and teardown – createa specific plan of responsibilities to ensure all members have a role

·Ensure all necessary physical components are in place for rehearsalsand performancesand put back at the end – sound system, audio recordings, props,number line, riser skirt,etc.

·Takeleadership, with the assistance of the other show choir's stage manager, in ensuring that all necessary physical components (as listed above) are packed and brought to competitions
