1.  Call to order 6:06pm

2.  Approval of December 2015 meeting minutes

Correction to #3 PTSO will not hold session to show parents how to use Powerschool – recommendation to hold session at Open House.

3.  Data base system update - Ms. Edwards

·  Secretary has document with student names that need updated contact information. When parents bring students to office to sign in they are asked to complete form- seems to be working

4.  Traffic Control on Monroe Road Entrance

·  School Resource Officer has contacted the Department of Transportation and is awaiting response

NEW ITEMS

5.  East Meck Logo

·  Discussion to have consistent logo or at least easy availability of common East Meck logo for clubs or teams to access for gear and/or equipment. Currently there are approximately 20 different logos in circulation

·  A vector file of the logo is what is needed by Teresa Fessmier. Currently Ruth Harris and Ms. Edwards have vector files

6.  Comprehensive School Calendar

·  Discussion regarding easy access on website for comprehensive calendar that includes all happenings at East Meck such as sporting events, theatre events.

·  Ms. Chavez currently keeps a calendar for multiple school events – possibility of second calendar being kept and published by Ms. Kirkpatrick. Ms Chavez to investigate and report at February meeting.

7.  Potential Fundraisers for athletics

·  Booster club is on the PTSO January agenda for discussion

·  PTSO does not typically hold fundraisers

·  Robust discussion of possible opportunities – possible consideration if a fall or spring activity – set up like a flea market type sale where student groups can rent tables and sell items. Suggested idea of food trucks. Ms. Chavez to investigate possibility of holding on school grounds

8. School Improvement Plan & School Performance Grade (Rick Parker)

·  #6 Reduce number of referrals in 9th grade- Ms. Yates compiles information ongong – comparing Fall 2014 to Fall 2015 3% decrease

·  #5 Retention rate data available after first semester grading complete

9.  CMS Accreditation (Ms. Edwards)

·  Awaiting feedback from Central Learning Community

10.  Other Items

·  Tim Moore will be facilitating a session regarding the next student assignment plan. The event is sponsored by the Charlotte Clergy Coalition for Justice on Tuesday, January 19 at 7 PM at Caldwell Presbyterian Church
