Minutes of the February 21, 2017 Meeting

This was the regular monthly meeting of the Men of St. Joseph.

Old Business
- Deb Daniels Trailer
o Thursday / Friday of this week - repairs to her faucets and minor outdoor repairs are scheduled
o No requests for assistance have been submitted so far.
o We’ll keep this as an agenda item until resolved.
- Building Committee Report out
o Church Altar & Storage expansion
· The side altar areas have been painted.
· Cabinets are being installed in the new sacristy
· Commercial carpeting will be install in the storage areas
o New Air conditioning
· Access has been made into the attic space in the front of the church
· Installation layout of the new units will begin on March 1.
· The old chimney may have to be removed to make way for the supply ducts.
· Masonry work will be needed, to make vent openings for the supply and return ducts
o Modular Classrooms
· Electrical work is complete
· Revised arrangement of the stairs/ ramps and decking will be reviewed with the township this week. If the plans are approved a request for help pouring concrete piers will be sent out in e-mail.
· A contractor has been contacted to clean out the HVAC ductwork before anyone occupies the classrooms.
· Options for interior painting and carpet cleaning / replacement are in the works.
· There is a lot of firewood left over from clearing the area for the trailers, available on a first come first served basis.
o Grotto
· No Update this month.
- Men’s Spirituality Meeting
o The Men’s Bible study & Spirituality Meetings have started again
o The current subject is the gospel of St Luke, the group reviews a short video followed by discussion.
o All men of the parish are welcome, the fourth Tuesday of the month, Starting at 7:00pm in the Rectory
- Italian Dinner
o Our annual Italian Dinner was held on February 11th by all accounts it was a another success.
o Suggestions
· Add Decaf Coffee
· Get deeper soup bowls
· Use three color tickets, one for seniors, one for adults and one for children.
· Eliminate “Family discount”
· Book Kimberton Fire company ASAP, try for early March
· Look for possible organizations that would accept any leftover food that night.
- Brewfest
o The plans for a Brewfest have been revised.
o Scheduled for Saturday after Labor Day in September.
o Investigate the possibility of holding in conjunction with the Chicken BBQ
- Lenten Crab Cake Sale
o We have been confirmed for a crab cake sale on March 16th and April 6th.
o Envelops have been printed and available in the church.
- Eagle Scout Project
o Will Reese has agreed to work on a plan to remove the half walls on the church sides as his Eagle Scout project.
o No update this meeting.
- Man Up Philly Retreat
o Will be held on March 4th. At St. Joseph University

New Business
1. Athletic Fields
o Jim Joyce came to the MOJO group to discuss improvements to the Athletic fields.
o He was referred to the Holy Family CYO org.
2. St. Patrick Day Celebration
o Will be held on March 11th,
o Weather dependent – the plan is to hold it in the Pavilion so more people can participate.
3. MOJO Retreat
o Plans are in the works for a MOJO retreat in Cape May
o April 28 & 29
o More information will be available next meeting. Keep those dates open!
4. Fair
o Lee has sold his big roller
o We’ll have to investigate another method to roll the fields for parking.
o Pat is working on a Fair layout map to keep walk ways and lighting unobstructed.
