1. Introduction
This document lists all the new functionality and features in Site Manager Version 7.1 which is due to be implemented on 12th and 13th June. Version 7.1 also provides the access control functionality needed to provide the new 'Oxonly' system which is due to be implemented at a later date.
This document is aimed at anyone who is already using V7.0 either as a moderator or contributor. It is not intended to be a complete manual for new users.
Note: Items 1 – 4 are available to contributors and moderators. Items 5 – 7 are available to moderators only.
There is a list of current bug fixes at the end of the document.
2. title bar
An additional search box has been added to the title bar.
The role is no longer displayed in the title bar. Click on the icon to the left of the login name to display the current role.
3. using the search function
The search box on the title bar can be used to search for content or a section. The Search Widget is still available, but the option to search specifically for content or a section is not currently available.
4. content
4.1 Save as Draft
Content can be created and saved as a draft. Draft content will not be included in Workflow and cannot be published using the Publish Now function. The format of the version number for draft content will be 0.0.1.
Draft content can be previewed from within the content, but cannot be previewed from elsewhere in the section or from another section.
To save as a draft:
· Create or modify a piece of content in the usual way
The options to Add/Update, Approve, Save as Draft, Publish Now no longer appear as separate buttons, but are now incorporated into a drop down list.
Note: Update & Approve and Publish Now will not appear in the contributors' drop down list.
· Click on the drop down list
· Select Save as Draft
The content will appear in the section with a status of Draft.
4.2 Mirroring and Duplicating Draft Content
When mirroring draft content the mirrored content will retain the same version number as the source content.
When duplicating draft content the duplicated content will revert to version 0.0.1 regardless of the version number of the source content.
4.3 Locking content
Content will no longer be locked if the user closes the content editor using the Back button in the browser. Changes will not be saved. However, it is still recommended that the content editor is closed by selecting either Update or Cancel as before.
4.4 Bulk Actions
It is now possible to Mirror, Duplicate, Move or Delete more than one item of content at a time using the Bulk Actions option.
To carry out a bulk action on all items of content:
· Click in the box to the left of Select All
The menu adjacent to Select All will become active, and all other menus will be greyed out.
· Hover over the menu to display the options.
· Select the required menu option to apply the function all items.
To carry out a bulk action on selected items:
· Click in the box to the left of each required item
The menu adjacent to Select All will become active. Hover over the menu to display the options.
Note: The following items are available to moderators only.
5. Assign owners to content
There is an additional option in the General tab of the section which allows for an individual or group to be set up as owner of the section.
If the Inherited box is ticked, the section will inherit ownership from the parent section, provided an owner has previously been set for that section.
To select specific owners or groups to the current section:
· click on
A search box will be displayed
· Enter the name of the user and group and click on Search. The user or group name will be displayed.
· Click on the plus sign and the user will be assigned as an owner for the section.
There will then be an option to change or remove owner.
Note: the Rights and Roles functionality remains the same as before.
6. Publish now
If a section is Inactive or marked as Archived the following warning message will appear when selecting Publish Now:
7. workflow email
An additional line has been added to the standard workflow email text giving the full path of the section and content to be approved.
Summary of the latest bug fixes:
ñ241 In TinyMCE: Unable to highlight text using the mouse
ñ241 Unable to add a class to section links created with TinyMCE
ñ241 When inserting an image from the media library, previewing it, then closing the preview and returning to the content all buttons are disabled.
ñ241 If a bullet list is the first piece of content in the editor, content cannot be added above it
ñ241 Cannot rename category in media library with same name but uppercase letters
ñ241 When pasting content into TinyMCE a question mark is inserted at the end.
ñ241 Media Library popup is too small when adding media to a piece of content
ñ241 TinyMCE - Ctrl Z causing a blank paragraph <p</p> which moves the cursor focus to the beginning of the entire content.
