This is the text only version of the Easy English document.
This booklet has some hard words. The first time we write a hard word we write what the hard word means.
About this booklet
This booklet is made by the New South Wales (NSW) Ombudsman.
The Ombudsman
- is a government person
- listens to complaints
- makes sure public services are fair to everyone
A public service might be
- local council
- jail
- services for children
- disability services.
Right now the NSW government is in charge of houses for people with disabilities.
Soon non-government organisations will be in charge of houses for people with disabilities.
The NSW Ombudsman has a project to
- look at how the change is working
- find any problems
- fix any problems.
What we are doing
The Ombudsman will look at different types of houses for people with disabilities.
We might look at
- client information
- plans the government has made to take care of people.
We will fix problems when we find them.
We will visit some houses and talk to staff and residents.
A resident is someone who lives in the house.
We might talk to staff and residents about
- different ways to do things
- better ways to do things
- keeping residents safe and happy.
We might also talk to family members of residents.
If we
- talk to you
or
- visit your house
itdoes not mean the Ombudsman is worried about your house.
We will write a report about what we find.
The project will finish in June 2018.
