10th International Festival of Flags

LIGHT TO THE WORLD–HOMAGE TO TESLA

Conditions for participation
  1. All artists and artistic groups from Croatia and other countries can participate in the Competition.
  2. Each artist or group has the right to register and participate in the Competition with a maximum of three (3) works.
  3. Works should be submitted together with the application form.
The aim of this year's Festival topic is to show a
brilliant mind of one of the greatest scientists and
inventors – Nikola Tesla. The exhibition is
dedicated to Nikola Tesla, and this year is the 75th
anniversary of his death. The topic – LIGHT TO
THE WORLD – HOMAGE TO TESLA enables a
wide choice and freedom in the selection of
motives (from figurative to nonfigurative). In what
way can the brilliance of a mind of one of the
greatest world scientists and inventors be
presented?
4. Flag dimensions are 100×50 cm. Top and bottom
seams must be stitched at 79 cm width (50+3+3),
a 3-cm wide gap needs to be left for wire cable to
go through. Bottom end can be straight or in free
form.
Note: Bottom seam needs to be 3 cm stitched at 79
cm of the length of the flag.

  1. The use of UV light and phosphorescent dyes with different light effects is recommended,collage, painting, print, cutouts, mixed media, photos etc. The flags should be painted or printed on both sides with paints or inks that are not sensitive to weather conditions. Any material can be used (canvas, calico, hessian, nylon etc.).
6. The most successful flags will beawarded:
Best works will receive awards:
first,second and third place awards.
  1. The Festival of flags will be accompanied by a printed catalogue which will be sent to participating artists.
  2. Flags will beexhibited at the festival area ofpark Zrinjevac in Zagreb.

  1. Artists that apply agree to the terms of this call, as well as public presentation and publication of their work. The Festival reserves the right to photograph all submitted flags, publication and submission of the documentation in the catalogue, and the right to their use in advertising and documentation purposes without compensation. Submitted works will not be returned but remain in the ownership of the festival and can be used for other festival purposes.
Important note: painted works should have
preparations to protect the painted layer from
atmospheric influences.
  1. The artists alone bear the costs for the production of
their works.

  1. Send completed works along with a photo on CD in JPG format (300 dpi). Name the file: Artist`s name and Title of the flag, example: Zoran Juric, Blue Flag. Write the name, e-mail and full address of the author on the CD.
  2. The deadline for submitting the applications is May 4th 2018.
  3. Participants will be notified about the outcome of the selection process by e-mail by May25st 2018.
