Evoke
This body of work by established artist Yosi Messiah was surely inspired by the mosiac embellishments and architecture of Middle East. Their jewel like colours and shapes fill the canvasses with intricate patterns inviting the viewer to move through the layers and escape into an ancient world – not at all surpirisng when you consider Yosi’s own heritage. One discovers endless patterns imploding as they explore the meandering weave of this rich terrain.
Creature works
Messiah's figurative work is his most recent recent creative direction, and has been inspired by pop culture imagery.
His work is characterised by his love of intricate line detail and a bold and exuberant colour palette taken from his experience as an abstract painter. As a young boy in Ramle, Messiah dreamt of becoming an animator. He spent his time drawing cartoon characters. His work is a a clash of quirky pop culture creatures.
Layers of warm desert colours, mix with cool ocean blues, and a graphic drawing style have created "societies maze" it's Messiah's way of building the layers of society. "The cocktail that we are living in"
