Dissertation: Michael Mooney and the Leadville Irish: Respectability and Resistance at 10,200 Feet, 1875-1900.
This work tracks the paths of Irish miners as they crossed North America from mining camp to mining camp. In addition to looking at labor wars and inter-ethnic relationships, this work focuses on everyday life for those Irish men and women who chose to seek their fortune in Colorado mining camps. This social history is based upon family oral tradition, census reports, immigration records, church records, and newspaper archives.

Thesis: Young and Latino in a Cold War Barrio: Survival, the Search for Identity, and the Formation of Street Gangs in Denver, 1945-1955.
This work is a social history of Denver's Latino youth gangs, focusing on their confrontations with the city's mainstream media and criminal justice system. It is based upon personal interviews with former gang members, city and police records, newspaper accounts of barrio violence, and surveys and reports conducted during these years on Denver's Latino community.

PROFESSIONAL and CREATIVE ACTIVITIES
Founder and Facilitator, Romero Theater Troupe, 2005-present. Organize and direct an all-
volunteer community theater troupe whose mission is to bring non-traditional history and stories
of struggles for social justice to working class audiences through theater.
Other activities of the troupe include:
· Theater and personal narrative workshops each year to various community
organizations such as homeless shelters and elder care facilities.
· Partnerships with University of Denver School of Law providing actors for
role playing for Public Defender Program.
· Theatrical Presentations for major academic conferences such as the American
Sociological Association, Oral History Association, and National Education
Association.
· Leading Community Storytelling Projects that empower community members to
share important narratives and to advocate for social justice efforts. These
include a program for returning veterans, various efforts for workers’ rights, and a
project at local middle and high schools to empower students to share personal
narratives on stage.

Regis University Service Trip to Appalachia, December 2011. Consulting facilitator for ten day trip for nursing students through West Virginia, focusing on health care systems, history, environment, and social justice related issues in the region.
Regis University Delegation to El Salvador, January 2010. Accompanied six students and other Regis faculty on a ten day journey through El Salvador focusing on history of political and ethnic violence and economic exploitation, as well as reconciliation efforts.
Regis University Service Oriented Field Experience to Ireland, March 2009. Designed Ireland SOFE and facilitated seventeen Regis graduate students in nonprofit management in Dublin, Derry, and Galway focusing on nonprofit work and peace and reconciliation efforts in Ireland.
Consulting Historian, Americorp “Civics Troupe” program, 2004-2006. Supervised and directed the efforts of twelve Americorp volunteers in putting together a theatrical production that deals with historical issues surrounding the U.S. Constitution. The Civics Troupe performed their historical theater across the state of Colorado.
