Overview

In 2014, the Embassy of France in Australia is offering a mobility grant program for early career researchers between Australia and France. The aim of this travel grant is to facilitate and develop collaboration between these two countries.

The travel grant will cover the expense of one economy return airfare from any capital city in Australia to a major airport in France, covering a period of a maximum of 28 days.

  1. Eligibility

Applications are open to early career researchers of any nationality who meet the following criteria:

Applicants must be currently:

  • undertaking a PhD in Australia,OR
  • undertaking a postdoc in Australia (PhD conferred after 31 December 2008),OR
  • working as a research assistant in a university or research institution in Australia (PhD conferred after 31 December 2008).

AND

Relevant bilateral research:

Applicants must also be conducting or developing research in collaboration (of medium or long-term) between Australia and France.

The topic of climate change is a priority for the Embassy of France in 2014 and projects in the area of environment, energy, and health are also of particular interest, however all project thematic areas will be considered.

  1. Terms of the travel grant

The 2014 Scientific Mobility Program will only cover the expenses for a return trip to France (financial support for living expenses is not included):

  • Airline tickets are only offered, issued and delivered directly by the Campus France Agency. Once date of travel is confirmed by the candidate and tickets are issued, theycannot be changed or refunded
  • Only transport between two international airports will be supported. Travel must take place between mid-March and 31 December 2014
  • The duration of travel must not exceed 28 days from the date of departure.

The selection committee will confirm the successful candidates (success rate 22% in 2013) by mid-February and candidates who accept the travel grant must confirm their travel dates by 24 February 2014. Tickets will be issued by approximately on 14 March, therefore departure to France from Australia can be scheduled from mid-March 2014.

Only completed applications (including signature) will be examined. Please ensure you include all required additional documentation with your application.
