Job Description for an Associate Director: IT Systems For The Reigate Learning Alliance

Responsible to Director of Estates and IT
Job Purpose The management, maintenance and security of the RLA Network Systems and to provide a technical support service to the MIS Associate Director (RLA) to maintain those systems to a high standard to enable the provision of quality education.
Job Responsibilities
1. To manage the Network Systems, both PC and Apple based, efficiently and economically and in particular for:
· The security and maintenance of the RLA networks and all information systems within these networks.
· The management and organisation of the IT support technicians work schedules
· The management of IT support within the RLA. IT support includes PCs, Apple Macs, Tablet/Mobile devices, projectors, and other AV equipment around the colleges.
· Liaising and supporting IT related work of technicians who are not directly line managed by the IT Support Department. For example Music Technology, Film & Media Studies, Art and Music.
· Ensuring that back-up procedures are followed in accordance with RLA policies.
· Ensuring that the documentation of the network is accurate, up to date and available for disaster recovery.
· Ensuring all licences acroos the RLA networks are kept up to date at all times
· Define the specification of new IT equipment and ensure suitability and compatibility with existing systems. Research and recommend on the purchase of new and replacement IT equipment in line with the RLA IT Replacement Programme.
· Advising on and planning the development of the RLA networks infrastructure.
· Liaising at a technical level with external agencies and internal services.
· Installing new software at server, network and desktop level.
· Installing and maintaining computer hardware
· Assisting staff and students with hardware and software problems
2. To line manage the IT technicians to include appraisal and development.
3. To ensure that publicity events have the correct Audio Visual equipment and that back up staff are on duty for all evening events that are published in the RLA Calendars.
4. Any other duties as agreed between the Director of Estates IT, the CEO or the Principal from time to time.

Additionally the person appointed is expected to have:
1. An awareness of, and responsiveness to, the needs of students in the 16-19 age range and the ability to form good relationships with them.
2. Experience of managing or ability to manage IT systems in a similar environment to the RLA.
3. An ability to work in professional partnership with other staff and students and to establish a good rapport with a range of client groups.
4. Experience of maintaining a range of audio visual equipment.
