A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Raymond Wilborn.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Raymond Wilborn, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Raymond Wilborn was born on July 16, 1910, a native of Oldham County, Kentucky, and traversed these earthly bounds on December 21, 1997; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Wilborn was the loving son of Drufle Thomas Wilborn and Nora Jane Klineline Wilborn; and he was the devoted husband of Irene Montfort Wilborn; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Wilborn was an esteemed member of the La Grange-Oldham County community, and his astute leadership in the spearheading of meaningful projects contributed to the enhancement of the quality of life in his community where he served as mayor of La Grange for nine years, and where he also served on the La Grange city council; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Wilborn served as chairman of the Farm Home Administration, and also served on the Agriculture Stabilization Committee; he served as director and secretary/treasurer of the Oldham County Farm Bureau, and he also served three years on the board of La Grange Southern States Co-op; he was a retired farmer, operating farms in Oldham and Shelby counties; and he also managed Ashbourn Farms in Oldham and Henry counties for 26 years; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Wilborn was owner and president of La Grange Motor Sales; president of the Wilborn and Davis Dealership, and a partner in Duncan Hughes and company feed store; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Wilborn was a member of the La Grange Methodist Church; and a member of the La Grange Masonic Fortitude Lodge No. 47 F&AM for over 50 years; he was a long-time member, and two-time president of the Oldham County Lions Club; he was a former board member of the Oldham County Chamber of Commerce; he served as a trustee of My Oldham Kentucky Home Council of the Boy Scouts of America; he was a life-time member of the Kentucky Lions Club Eye Foundation; and he served as chairman of the board of Mallory-Taylor Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Wilborn was the recipient of many awards for his community service; he received the Oldham County Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Service Award in 1993; he was acknowledged for his donation of the La Grange city clock; in 1994, he was named a Melvin Jones Fellow by the North Oldham Lions Club; and the new city park at the old L&N Lake property in La Grange was renamed Raymond Wilborn Park in his honor; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Raymond Wilborn has left a void that will be difficult to fill, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. This honorable body does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Raymond Wilborn, and we do extend to his family our most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Raymond Wilborn.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Irene Montfort Wilborn, 202 Maple Avenue, La Grange, Kentucky 40031.
