Coordinator of Choice, Charter, and Strategic Planning

Qualifications

Master’s Degree from an accredited educational institution.
Certified as a School Principal, in Educational Leadership or Administration and/or Supervision by the state of Florida, preferred.
Minimum of three years successful teaching experience.
Valid Florida Driver License.

Job Goal
Implement a comprehensive strategic plan for district choice and charter educational programs and coordinate resultant activities.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Assist in preparation and management of a budget; read, interpret and enforce State Board Rules and School Board policy; ability to enforce collective bargaining agreements; ability to use effective public relations skills; ability to analyze data; ability to use effective interview techniques, coaching procedures and evaluation procedures; ability to effectively use public speaking skills; ability to effectively use problem solving skills; knowledge of current educational trends and research; knowledge of group dynamics. Demonstrate written and oral communication skills; skills in personnel management, interaction, and supervision techniques.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions

Work with Director to coordinate and operate schools of choice. These schools include, but are limited to, magnet, charter and millennium schools. Expansion of secondary schools of choice.
Support administrative issues and policies for schools of choice including, but not limited to, admissions, transportation, staffing, facilities, marketing, lottery process, preferential assignments, hardship appeals, capacity, attractors and underutilization of existing schools and programs.
Support existing exemplary programs in elementary schools.
Oversee the creation of technology centers.
Consolidate and expand vocations programs.
Promote school improvement.
Develop special choice programs within existing schools.
Provide support to charter schools.
Enhance parental awareness, access and involvement.
Coordinate development of the District Strategic Plan.
Provide outstanding customer service, and use positive interpersonal communication skills.
Make all decisions and perform all tasks in accordance with Brevard Public Schools’ Organizational Values.
Ensure compliance with Board rules and applicable federal laws and regulations.
