GENERAL INFORMATION PRIOR TO THE RACE MEETING:
Ref. K373 : Race 3 : Maiden Plate : 1600M : Kenilworth : 27th December 2006
Apprentice Graham Gregorowski, the rider of SMACK DOWN, appeared before an Inquiry Board on Friday 29th December 2006 at 11h00. After considering all the evidence led, and viewing all the relevant videos, the Board decided not to charge Apprentice Gregorowski. However, with reference to Apprentice Gregorowski’s riding over the final 200 metres when he appeared to tire badly, and in view of the fact that Apprentice Gregorowski had to waste in the sweat-box to make the carded weight 57kg, the Board were still mindful of the fact that a rider must display professionalism even under difficult circumstances, and make every effort to ride to instructions. The Board therefore decided that they will recommend to The Racing and Equestrian Academy that he be transferred back to the Academy in Kwa-Zulu Natal, where his weight problems can be better managed.
Race 6 : Ref. K368 : W C Bookmakers’ Assoc. Cape Summer Stayeers Handicap (Grade 3) : 2500M : Kenilworth : 23/12/2006
Dr K Meiring examined EUROVISION on 28/12/2006. His heart sounds and co-ordination were within normal limits. He was slightly short on both front legs and his back was sensitive to digital palpation. There were no findings that indicated that he was a danger to ride.
Race 1 : Ref. K379 : Protea Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) : 900M (now 800M)
In terms of Rule 49.19 the distance of this race was reduced to 800M due to damage on the new course.
