A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND THE HONORABLE CHAUNCEY K. GREGORY, OF LANCASTER COUNTY, FOR HIS SIXTEEN YEARS OF OUTSTANDING AND DEDICATED SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE SENATE, UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE SENATE, AND TO WISH HIM SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the Honorable Chauncey K. Gregory, of Lancaster County, has represented the citizens of Senate District 16 for sixteen years with enthusiasm and passion; and
Whereas, born in Lancaster on March 18, 1963, the son of Eleanor Purdy Tillman and C. D. Gregory, he earned a bachelor’s degree in science from the University of South Carolina in 1985, and he is the president of Builders Supply Company; and
Whereas, in 1986, he married his beloved wife Sherri Cauthen, and they have raised two fine children, Marshall and Ellen Gray and are members of First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster; and
Whereas, his assignments in the Senate have included the Corrections and Penology Committee, the Education Committee, the Judiciary Committee, and the Fish, Game and Forestry Committee; and
Whereas, instrumental in ridding the State of video poker, he is currently working on the restructuring of state government in order to give the Governor more power, and therefore, greater accountability for the successes and failures of the State; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate will miss the passion and integrity that Chauncey K. Gregory has brought to the Senate, and wish him continued success in his private life as he leaves public service. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, commend the Honorable Chauncey K. Gregory, of Lancaster County, for his sixteen years of outstanding and dedicated service as a member of the Senate, upon his retirement from the Senate, and wish him success and happiness in all his future endeavors.
