Communications Volunteer
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated volunteer to assist with the day-to-day communications activity for Home-Start Camden.
Excellent written and oral skills are essential, as is an approachable, personable manner. This individual will be highly organised and proactive with the ability to foster strong relationships and gain trust with the media and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Communications Trustee, work with paid staff from across the organisation, as well as supporters and volunteers to deliver accurate and effective communications for Home-Start Camden, promoting awareness and generating income and support.
The role will assist with a range of duties such as growing our online presence through the use of organic and paid social media, preparing press releases, photocalls, event PR and liaison with journalists. It will also support broader marketing and communications activity, including fundraising and awareness raising events, whilst helping maintain internal systems of monitoring and reporting.
A qualification or training in a relevant discipline is strongly desired, although not essential.

Aim of Volunteer Role
We are seeking a volunteer to help us with our communications and public relations activity to:
- help raise awareness of our family support work,
- reach families with children under five who need extra support
- recruit parents and people with parenting experience as home-visiting volunteers
- publicise our fundraising events and increase our donor and supporter base

- A good understanding and interest of online social media channels
- A knowledge on marketing theories and practices
- Able to work on initiative

- Excellent command of English
- Excellent communication skills
- Good PC skills
The successful candidate will report directly to the Communications Trustee, work with paid staff from across the organisation, as well as supporters and volunteers to deliver accurate and effective communications for Home-Start Camden, promoting awareness and generating income and support.
The role will also involve regular liaison and contact with members of the local Camden Borough press, so any existing media contacts would be very welcome.
Skills, experiences and qualities required
Excellent written and oral skills are essential, as is an approachable, personable manner. This individual will be highly organised and proactive with the ability to foster strong relationships with the media and other stakeholders and gain trust.
Previous experience of creating and sharing organic content on social media profiles.
Knowledge and experience of creating social media advertisements on Facebook and Twitter, specifically Google Ads.
We may be required to carry out a DBS check for the role.

What time commitments are required?

What training is provided?
On the role training, full induction, supervision from Home-St Camden manager and Communications Trustee.
