Note: We have requested Framingham Public School textbooks to supplement the resources shown below, but are unable to list them here until we receive them. We have been told that we need to submit this form before we can apply to sign them out. Hence, a "chicken and egg" problem.
Subject / ObjectiveEnglish / Continue to read quality literature of interest to the student.
Continue to have the student write items of interest to the student. Continue to answer all of the student's questions regarding proper spelling, grammar, analysis, and interpretation of literature.
Resources: Framingham Public Library, our private library.
Mathematics / Continue to expose the student to various concepts in mathematics and the application of numbers and arithmetic tools in everyday situations. Resources: Saxon 7/6, Key to Fractions, Key to Geometry, JumpStart software.
Science and Technology / Continue to expose the student to concepts in science, engineering, and technology. Historically, the instructors have provided special emphasis on the scientific method of analysis and the application of skeptical thinking to evaluate claims of fact. Resources: Science News, Kids Discover Magazine, Skeptical Inquirer, Bill Nye, PBS programming, field trips.
U.S. and World History and Geography / Continue to describe the relationship between historical events and current events (or everyday experience) for cultural perspective. Develop further understanding of the physical and spatial relationships between land, sea, and air, and the distribution of plant and animal life on earth including man and his industries. Resources: History of Us, Kid's Discover Magazine, History Channel programming, Larry Gonick's Cartoon History of the Universe, field trips.
Health / Continue to emphasize good practice in exercise, nutrition, and hygiene. Resources: Framingham texts.
Physical Education / Continue to provide opportunities for and encouragement of frequent exercise.
Music / Continue to provide opportunities for musical expression, and to expose the student to a diverse range of musical instruments and styles. Resources: private lessons, CD's, field trips.
Art / Continue to provide opportunities for creative expression through art and craft projects, and to expose the student to artistic works as opportunities arise. Resources: art supplies, field trips.
World Languages / Our student is currently learning Spanish. Resources: Power Glide foreign language course.
