President’s Update- March 19, 2017

Greetings NAACP PA,

The NAACP PA is at the forefront of civil rights work in Pennsylvania. Your local Unit, and you as members, are essential to our success. Here are some things you should know this week.

The 108th NAACP Annual Convention to be held in Baltimore, Maryland, July 22-26, 2017. This year there will be on-line registration for all categories. Branches are encouraged to use the on-line registration and will have access to it by late March or early April. National urges you to register early.

Be thorough in your compliance process. You must be cleared by the National Finance Department and identified as Compliant by April 24, 2017 in order to register for the National Convention as a voting Branch. These are the rules:

1. 50 members in good standing minimum. (If you are short, recruit.)

2. Annual Financial Report filed with the National Finance Dept. If it’s not in – SEND IT!

(Also, email a copy of your report to PA State Secretary,Ms. Johnnifer Harris .)

3. National Assessment paid in full

4. State Assessment paid in full

Help make our Youth and College Branches strong forBaltimore. Make sure they can attend the National Convention and participate in the elections this summer. Support their election and compliance efforts.

Members who wish to run for office at the State Conference level should closely review the 2016 -2017 State Elections Procedure Manual for State/State Area Conference available at Manuals Guidelines Training link.These are the rules:

1. You must have been a current member in a compliant Branchby December 15, 2016.

2. Three current members of compliant Branches in PA must sign your Candidates Consent Form.

(Attach a copy of their current membership card or Life Membership plaque to your form.)

3. The signed form must be received by June 15, 2017. Send the form by certified mail to:

The Second Quarterly meeting is in Johnstown, PA on Sat. April 22. Registration materials are forthcoming. Advanced registration on-line or by mail to the Media P O Box. NO CASH on site. Check/ Money Order only.
