MarketingSales Internship – Summer, Fall & Spring Semesters

Summary of Position:

We are currently seeking a Marketing & Sales Intern for a wide range of marketing activities for the restaurant, mainly involving research, development and implementation of a robust direct marketing & sales program. This includes on-site marketing material and outreach to, and relationship-building with commercial and residential buildings, local businesses and organizations. This part-time paid/unpaid position will be a minimum of 20 hours per week and will meet schedule requirements as set forth in the Employer Guidelines of the Texas State Intern Program: Summer – 8 weeks & 160 job hours; Fall or Spring – 10 weeks & 200 job hours.

Scope of Work:

  • Week one (1), or twenty (20) job hours – familiarize yourself with all aspects of the business. You will be scheduled to work closely with the General Manager to obtain as much knowledge and information possible for tasks and work the remainder of the semester.
  • Week two (2) through four (4), or sixty (60) job hours – research and develop a ‘draft’ local area marketing & sales plan (including maps and graphs) for review with the General Manager. The plan should include, but not be limited to:

Goals

  1. Increase lunch activity
  2. Increase customer traffic on Tuesday – Thursday nights
  3. Generate private events on off-peak times

Territories

  1. Local
  1. Large employers
  2. Texas State
  3. Affinity groups
  4. Neighborhoods (Willow Creek, Havenwood, etc.)
  5. Captive audiences (Mariposa, etc.)
  6. Outlet mall employees
  1. Regional
  1. North/East: Kyle/Buda/Wimberley
  2. South/West: New Braunfels/Canyon Lake/Lockhart/Seguin

Outcomes

  • Week five (5), or twenty (20) job hours – submit and review ‘draft’ local area marketing & sales plan with the General Manager. Complete revisions for a ‘final draft’ of the plan and provide to General Manager for final review.
  • Week six (6), or twenty (20) job hours – review developed plan and determine the number of marketing packets for each local and regional area within the plan. Based on review of the existing Cody’s marketing material, determine the best packaging and branding of the business. Cost out the printing of marketing material to achieve plan by the territories listed.
  • Week seven (7) through eight (8), or forty (40) job hours – prepare all marketing packets in accordance with final marketing and sales plan in preparation for implementation phase.

Qualifications:

  • Texas State management and marketing major classified as a junior or senior.
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented and willingness to work hard, even at very basic tasks.
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly motivated and versatile.
  • Creativity and initiative to seek out new approaches and contacts.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and have basic graphic design ability.
