Parking: you can park on the street, and leave your cars on the street near SEI
Driving: Caldera will be providing the van, so the only approved driver will be the Caldera staff member.
Directions to Wallowa Lake State Park Campground:
· I – 84 east to HWY 82, take exit 261 at La Grande
· In La Grande, take Hwy 82 east (exit 261) through Wallowa, Lostine, and Joseph all the way to the end at Wallowa Lake State Park campground
Directions to trailhead:
· From Wallowa Lake State Park follow signs to Wallowa Lake Trailhead.
Directions from trailhead to Wallowa Stay N Wash:
· Take hwy 82 back into the town of Wallowa.
· At 7th street go right, take that to Stay N Wash
Itinerary:
Day 1- August 21- Head to Wallowa Lake State Park campground
Day 2- August 22- From Wallowa Lake State Park follow signs to Wallowa Lake Trailhead. Take the East Fork trail. Head up towards Jewett Lake.
Day 3- August 23- continue to Jewett Lake.
Day 4- August 24- same camp, high point.
Day 5- August 25- start heading towards trailhead
Day 6- August 26- Arrive at Trailhead. You will be driving back to the Stay N Wash in the town of Wallowa so you don’t have as far to go the last day
Day 7- August 27- leave Stay N Wash and head back to Portland.
Option- If teens are strong hikers and you can make it to Jewett Lake on the 1st day, then do your layover that next night, go for a high point, and then move on the same trail making a loop towards Bonny Lakes. From Bonny Lakes head back out meeting up with the trail you came in on.
Accommodations:
Night 1 – Wallowa State Park campground- We have a reservation that has been confirmed and paid for August 21st – confirmation # is 1960132.
Night 6 – Wallowa Stay N Wash in the town of Wallowa, 402 W 7th St. (541- 886-6944). We have reservations under Big City Mountaineers or Rachel’s Greenwald’s name. Lorraine is the contact name.
