MUSIC NEWS

Congratulations to Batoul from Grade 6 whose beautiful design for the Music Room Door was chosen from many fantastic submissions. Special mention also goes to Emilio from grade prep who was runner up. A thanks also goes to Rose (Miles' mum) and the students for help in choosing the winners. In the next few weeks a group of parents will start decorating the door using Batoul's design.

The school band has started rehearsing on Thursday mornings and passers-by have been enjoying listening to Amad, Evexia, Aliyah, Hung, Konstantine, Isabella and Oscar playing "Eye of the Tiger"

The performance choir will be performing the national anthem at the inaugural Anzac Day Tournament at the Coburg Table Tennis Club on the 26th of April as well as performing at the Boorandara Eisteddfod on May 12th. Stay tuned for further details. Some students will also perform at the first farmers market on the 27th April.

Last year a group of parents formed a great band and played music for the school concert. If there are any parents new to the school who would be interested in getting together to play sometime later in the year email me at

NATIONAL RIDE TO SCHOOL DAY - FRIDAY 22nd MARCH

This date is the 1st official Walk/Ride/Skate 2 School Day for 2013. Let’s keep the great support continuing on from last year. We are askingthat students ride orwalk to school, if possible,on this day. If you can'tride all the way maybe you can use the “Part-way is okay” idea where you stop the car, a reasonable distance away from the school, and ride or walk the rest of the way. I challenge all students to see if their grade can have the highest number of students participating and win the trophy!

This is our first Ride2School Day for this year. We are asking parents to closely supervise their children whilst they ride, to ensure that they learn traffic rules and road sense. The O’Hea Street Bike Trail is a fantastic path for our children to use, although they need to be shown how to use it safely. They need to remember to keep to the left of the white line on the bike path and be aware of other riders. Always stop and check before crossing over roads at side streets and slow down and check driveways. If your child rides to school on a normal footpath they need to be shown how to respect the rights of pedestrians using the path. Also, at all traffic lights and crossings you need to walk your bike across like a pedestrian. All students and parents also need to walk their bikes, scooters and skateboards whilst in the school grounds. The bike shed is located at the back of the Art room and we encourage everyone to have a lock their

Happy riding! Lyn Evans

BIRTHDAY TREATS

We have had some great creations sent along when children are celebrating birthdays. Fruit cut up and threaded onto skewers has been a popular treat in 4/5A. This is a really healthy alternative and is very popular with the children (and principal!) Thank you to the school community for supporting us in our no lolly bags policy for birthdays.

ICT (Information Communications Technology)

Sometimes on Studyladder, when a student logs on at home, an activity does not appear to work or give the Green Smiley Face of success. This can be due to how each home computer is set up and what browser is being used. There is a ‘checklist’ of possible solutions called ‘What should I do if an activity isn’t working?’ available for parents to use. It can be found on Studyladder in the ‘Help & Guides’ tab, under the heading of ‘Access FAQ’. This is the url link: http://www.studyladder.com.au/help/flash .
