Above and Beyond is the ultimate interactive and multisensory flight exhibition celebrating the power of innovation to make dreams take flight. From flying cars and supersonic planes to space elevators and mega-rockets, Above and Beyond takes you faster, further and higher for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Above and Beyond is an international aviation and aerospace exhibition presented by Boeing and developed in collaboration with NASA and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
Using immersive simulations, augmented reality and a range of interactive design challenges, you can see the world from outer space and take on the physical and psychological challenges of long-term space travel.
Take an elevator ride to the edge of space. Observe the breathtaking scenery as you ascend to Earth’s orbit aboard a simulated space elevator. View objects manufactured by the same type of 3D printer recently installed on the International Space Station.
Pilot a drone into the eye of a hurricane to measure nature’s fury. Race your friends at the speed of sound as you design and test-fly your own supersonic jet in a virtual high-speed, high-flying competition. Spread your wings and experience flight using motion-sensor technology to discover why a bird’s flight is more complicated than it seems. Equip and control the flight of a wing-flapping UAV.
Above and Beyond is designed to ignite a passion for the greatest adventure of all: our journey of flight in the air and in space. In doing so, it honours past world-changing innovations while looking ahead and demonstrating the impact of aerospace breakthroughs in our everyday lives.
Packed with fun interactive challenges, vehicle concept models and prototypes, and immersive media presentations, this exciting exhibition lets you explore advanced aircraft and spacecraft that change our lives and transform our world.
Questacon is the only venue in Australia showcasing this exhibition in 2017.
