Job Title: Trusts Fundraising & Corporates Officer (Part Time)
Reporting to:Fundraising Manager, Trusts and Projects
Primary Role: To support the Fundraising Manager, Trusts & Projects (FMT&P) in developing and implementing the organisation’s strategic plans for gaining increased funding from Trusts & Foundations in support of Seafarers UK’s work, and where appropriate in researching potential gift opportunities from Corporates.
Supporting Roles: To work closely with the FMT&P in developing and implementing a strategy to maximise income from an agreed list of Trusts and Foundations.
To manage and maintain key Trust & Foundation relationships on an on-going basis, with a particular focus on smaller Trusts through general, unrestricted ‘asks’ in supporting the charity.
To research potential corporate partners, and support FMT&P in maintaining and updating corporate database
Main Responsibilities:
- Secure funds from using and tailoring existing Trust application templates (to match to potential donor’s needs), in order to achieve annual target.
- Take on responsibility for organising up to two small Trust mailings each year, fundraising for the charity’s work in general and/or our Centenary projects.
- Support FMT&P on bulk Corporate communications, and on small Corporate relationship management where required.
- Where relevant, work with the FMT&P to create tailored applications that have relevance for each Trust or Foundation approached for funding.
- Ensure that application criteria and requirements (including reporting) are met for those Trusts that applications are made to (as well as for Corporates, if relevant).
- Carry out on-going desk-top research into Trusts, Foundations and any other grant-giving organisations, taking note of any potential connections that the charity may have with their senior management team and Trustees, and assessing and recording their grant-giving criteria to establish any potential routes in for making on-going or new applications.
- Carry out on-going desk-top research into Corporate prospects in close liaison with the FMT&P.
- Ensure records of grants, and key relationships, from Trusts and Foundations are accurately recorded on Raisers Edge, and that letters of thanks and acknowledgement are sent in a timely manner.
- Support the FMT&P in continuing to develop Law and Insurance contacts in the City, as required (managing them via, and within, Raiser’s Edge).
- Represent Seafarers UK and act as an ambassador at events and meetings as required.
- Be responsible for own on-going professional education and development.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the post.

- Experience of making a variety of applications to Trusts and Foundations, or Statutory Bodies (E)
- Proven track record of raising income from Trusts & Foundations, and/or other grant making bodies (E)
- Experience of delivering to targets (E)
- Proven experience of developing and maintaining good relationships with funders (D)
- Experience of quality bid writing and report writing in line with donor preferences and requirements (D)
- Experience of using Raisers Edge or another fundraising/CRM database (E)
- Experience of a Capital Appeal (D)
- An ability to get on with people and work as part of a team, as well as being able to work under own steam and autonomously as appropriate (E)
- An attention to detail (in reading and writing) (E)
- Good communication skills, but in particular a strong writing capability (E)
- Ability to carry out desk research with limited direction (E)
- Interest in and Knowledge of the maritime/maritime welfare sector (D)
Terms:
- Remuneration:£25,000.00 (pro-rata)
- Hours/days:3 days per week
- Holidays: 30 days (pro-rata) per year, plus recognised Public Holidays (within the period of the contract)
- Terms : 2 year contract (with 6 month probationary period)
