Title: Tower Hamlets Homes residents lead the way for Jubilee street parties

Local community groups, residents and neighbourhood officers from Tower Hamlets Homes have come together to organise a number of street parties and events to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Jubilee weekend is an excellent chance for residents and local communities across the borough to get together and celebrate in style.

“Working with both residents and local community groups, we’ve helped to support a number of events, now reaching 21, - that’s nearly one for each of our 27 neighbourhoods,” said Gavin Cansfield, Tower Hamlets Homes Chief Executive.

“I know how much people value community spirit; it’s really important that residents and families across our neighbourhoods feel part of the celebration and have the opportunity to join in the festivities with their local community.”

“Everyone has worked really hard to put the events together and we are looking forward to what promises to be a very special time. I hope to get around the neighbourhoods over the Jubilee weekend to see as many of the community events as possible.”

In addition to the street parties, picnics, fancy dress competitions and bouncy castles, a five a side football tournament, hosted by the Osmani Trust, community members and Tower Hamlets Homes, planned for Chicksand neighbourhood kicks off on June 2nd at 11am and continues until 3pm.
