Addendum #4 To

Request for Proposal

For Community Arts: Art Department Gallery Lighting: Project No. 039-231828

Dated April 9, 2014

The Addendum must be acknowledged on your lump sum bid.

NOTE: You must have attended a pre-bid conference in order to be eligible to bid on a particular project. Receipt of minutes or addenda without being at a pre-bid conference does not qualify your company to bid.

Please note: the bid due date has been extended to 4/25/14, no later than 2:00 p. m. No late bids allowed. Bids must be delivered to the University’s Purchasing Department at: Wayne State University, 5700 Cass Avenue, Suite 4200, Detroit, MI 48202. All bids to be time / date stamped upon submission.

Please find the attached question and clarification with regards to the above RFP.

Question: Where is the specification section 26 2726 - Wiring Devices found as it is mentioned in Specification sections 26 0926 & 26 0537, as related requirements for this project?

Answer: Disregard all references to Wiring Devices as there are none included in the work scope.

Question: Per addendum #3, the RFI deadline has been extended from 4/15/14 to noon on 4/18/14. Is the bid date also going to be extended from 4/22/14 in order to allow time for RFI's to be answered and accounted for?

Answer: Yes, the bid date is extended to 4/25/2014.

Question: Specification section 265100 1.3 D thru H addresses possible asbestos wiring within the historic fixtures being

replaced. Please confirm whether or not the existing fixture wiring has been tested for asbestos and if so, provide the test result.

Answer: The existing fixture wiring has tested positive for asbestos. Test result is attached with the addendum.

Question: Per Addendum #2, all lighting other than [2] exit/emergency units are being furnished by Wayne State. As a result,

please confirm if the following specification sections are excluded from this project; 265100 1.5 and 265100 Part 2 in

its entirety.

Answer:Specification Section 265100-1.5 and Specification Section 265100 Part 2 cannot be completely disregarded the contractor. Specification Section 265100-1.5 describes the luminaire submittal review process. Depending on timing of shop drawings received from Edison Price Lighting (EPL) and the award of the installation contract, WSU may want to include the contractor in the review process to confirm installation aspects of the new luminaires. Specification Section 265100 Part 2 contains information that both the luminaire vendor, EPL, and the contractor need to be aware of and respond to accordingly for proper installation without jeopardizing the appearance, functionality or warranty of the luminaires.

Question: Keynote #4 calls to perform minor demolition of the block walls to extend the lighting circuits from the flush lighting panels to the new surface mounted lighting control panels, and then restore the walls to existing conditions. We would like to

propose utilizing a fabricated panel extension which would extend the panel out approximately 6 inches. This would

allow for the work to be accomplished without having to remove and repair any of the existing walls, and would

certainly be more cost effective. Taking into account where these panels are located, we feel this solution is

very practical. Is this alternative acceptable?

Answer: This would be acceptable providing proper clearances, codes etc. are maintained.
