Officers present: Desider Vikor, Susanna Pathak, Kathy Brown, Cathy Ray, Ken Wise, Meg Scharf, Patricia Cutright.

Board Update:

  • - LAMA was named an “Angel” by ALA-APA
  • Molly Raphael, incoming LAMA President stated the following focus for her term:
  • Role LAMA will play in ethics of profession
  • Succession Planning
  • Mentoring
  • Involvement of At-Large Members

-ALA is still working on a redesign of web site

*Cathy said its been a real challenge, there is not a lot of movement;

*Marcia encouraged the use of the Wiki; Cathy will get info on posting to the Wiki.

Pre conference review:

-Lilith Kunkel: evaluations were outstanding with good comments; 22 responses were collected onsite and there is online access for submitting evaluations.

-Bob Johnston: there is discussion of presenting again in Chicago; the final count for attendance was 35; Bede Mitchell encourages a repeat of the program, which is rarely done.

-Kerry Ward, ALA LAMA Executive Director: encouraged us to go to Program Committee.

MAES will co-sponsoring a Chicago program with Planning and Evaluation of Library Services (PELS); “Marketing and Statistics – Using Assessment for Making a Difference”

Speakers: Catherine Harris, Sherry Jones, Annie Norman

  • Another possible topic for a program would be on Merged Information Services Instrument, also known as the Bryn Mawr Survey, for a suggested panel too.

Susanna: Strategic Plan -- opened for questions or comments.

  • suggested using Balanced Scorecard as an assessment topic
  • use the Wiki for depository/resource for placing survey tools/questions;

- Susanna described the LOMS clearinghouse in the past that was populated with surveys, the purpose, and how you used the data.

Discussed need for more resources for Balanced Scorecard; i.e. webinars, publications, etc., webliography.

Susanna will re-work the Balanced Scorecard web page.

Marcia presented an opportunity to volunteer for LAMA task-force, let her know if interested.
