Scholarships available for the State of West Virginia
High School Equivalency Diploma Recipients
A scholarship program administered by the West Virginia Department of Education and sponsored by various schools and institutions is offered annually to the State of WV High School Equivalency recipients. You may qualify for a scholarship if:
1. You are a successful GED® only completer with a score of at least 250 prior to January 1, 2002 or
2500 after January 1, 2002; TASC® only completer with 550 minimum-average of all 5 parts; OR GED and
TASC combined – GED 500 minimum average of those tests and TASC 550 minimum average of those.
2. You are a resident of West Virginia and show financial need based upon FAFSA application
3. You have been accepted or are enrolled full-time (12 or more hours) in school

COMPLETION OF AN APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE APPLICANT WILL BE SELECTED FOR A SCHOLARSHIP. THIS IS THE FIRST STEP TO THE SELECTION PROCESS. If selected, the $1,000 scholarship or tuition waiver is credited to the student’s account by the sponsoring school or institution ($500 per semester or the amount determined by the school) for educational expenses upon verification of enrollment at the institution. Application deadline is April 30th.
