1. PREFACE
THE TEXT OF THIS “COOLING TOWER OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL” IS PROVIDED TO THE END USER TO ACQUIRE THE DETAILED INFORMATION FOR THE CORRECT OPERATION PROCEDURE AND METHOD. AND THUS, RENDER LIANG CHI LDC-N COOLING TOWER TO RUN UNDER SAFE OPERATION AND MEANWHILE, TO REACH THE GREATEST COOLING EFFICIENCY.

2. STRUCTURE
2.1 FRAMEWORK
IS PROVIDED WITH HOT-DIP GALVANIZED STEEL TO RESIST
CORROSION AND RUST. WITH PROPER MAINTENANCE, THE
LIFE OF COOLING TOWER WILL LAST MANY YEARS. COLD
WATER BASIN, FAN STACK, AND HOT WATER BASIN ARE MADE
OF F.R.P. RAW MATERIAL WHICH CAN RESIST ACID OR
ALKALINE EROSION AND THE WEIGHT IS LIGHTER THAN STEEL
PRODUCTS.
2.2 BODY HEIGHT
ACCORDING TO LIANG CHI’S DESIGN, THE HEIGHT OF THIS LDC-N SERIES IS LOWER THAN OTHER SIMILAR PRODUCTS. AS A RESULT, THE TOTAL PUMP HEAD IS LOW AND RELATIVELY POWER CONSUMPTION IS LOW TOO.
2.3 FAN
WITH SPECIAL PROFILE DESIGN, LOW SPEED AND HIGH AIR VELOCITY.
3. INSTALLATION
3.1 CAUTIONS DURING INSTALLATION
A. THE ERECTION SITE MUST BE DRAFTY.
B. THE ERECTION SITE MUST BE KEPT AWAY FROM A LOCATION FILLED WITH DENSE DIRT OR ACID ODER.
C. THE ERECTION SITE MUST BE KEPT AWAY FROM CHIMNEY OR OTHER HEAT SOURCE AREA.
D. KEEP ENOUGH SPACE AT THE ERECCTION SITE FOR PIPING TO THE MAIN EQUIPMENT.
E. MAKE SURE THE ERECTED TOWER BE KEPT LEVELED. BESIDES, ANCHOR BOLTS AND WATER BASIN TRUSS PIPES MUST BE CLOSELY TIGHTENED UP.
F. ACCORDING TO THE DESIGN THE AIR IS SUCK IN THROUGH THE INLET LOUVER INTO THE TOWER. SO THE PROPER SPACE BETWEEN THE INLET LOUVER AND THE SURROUNDING OBJECTS MUST BE MAINTAINED TO AVOID INSUFFICIENT AIRFLOW BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE RESISTANCE. PLEASE REFER TO THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION FOR THE DETAILS :
3.2 PUMP AND PIPES
A. THE ILLUSTRATION FOR THE PIPING BETWEEN COOLING
TOWER AND AIR CONDITIONER IS LISTED AS BELOW:
4. PREPARATION BEFORE OPERATION
4.1 REMOVE ANY FOREIGN OBJECTS NEAR INLET LOUVER OR FAN STACK.
4.2 MAKE SURE THERE IS ENOUGH SPACE BETWEEN FAN TIPS AND FAN STACK TO PREVENT DAMAGE DURING OPERATION.
4.3 CHECK THE BELTS OF THE SPEED REDUCER TO SEE IFTHEY ARE ADJUSTED PROPERLY.
4.4 KEEP THE MATCHED PULLEYS ALIGNED ON THE SAME LEVEL.
4.5 AFTER COMPLETING ABOVE PROCEDURE, TURN THE SWITCH ON
AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY TO TEST IF THE FAN REVOLVES IN CORRECT DIRECTION OR GENERATES ABNORMAL VIBRATION AND NOISE.
4.6 CLEAN UP ANY FOREIGN MATTERS IN THE COOLING TOWER.
4.7 CLEAN UP DIRT OR FOREIGN MATTERS INSIDE THE COLD WATER BASIN AND THEN FILL IN WATER TO OVERFLOW LEVEL.
4.8 SWITCH ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY THE CIRCULATING PUMP PERIODICALLY TO EXHAUST THE AIR INSIDE THE PIPES UNTIL THE PIPES AND COLD WATER BASIN ARE FILLED WITH THE CIRCULATING WATER.
4.9 AFTER THE CIRCULATING PUMP OPERATES STEADILY, THE WATER LEVEL IN THE COLD WATER BASIN WILL DROP SLIGHTLY. THUS ADJUST THE FLOAT VALVE TO CERTAIN WATER LEVEL.
4.10 ELECTRICAL WIRING SYSTEM
A. SET THE EARTHING CONNECTIONS TO PROPER LOCATION.
B. MAKE SURE THE SWITCH, FUSE AND WIRING WILL MEET WITH THE HORSEPOWER LOAD. MEANWHILE, AVOID MOTOR RUNING IN SINGLE-PHASE.
5. STARTING COOLING TOWER
5.1 PERIODICALLY START THE FAN TO CHECK IF ADVERSE
REVOLUTION OR ABNORMAL VIBRATION SOUND OCCURS
THEN START THE PUMP AGAIN.
5.2 CHECK IF OPERATIONAL POWER SUPPLY FOR THE FAN MOTOR
IS OVERLOADED OR NOT? PREVENT MOTOR BURNING OUT OR
GENERATING LOW VOLTAGE.
5.3USE CONTROL VALVE TO ADJUST WATER VOLUME FOR
KEEPING THE WATER LEVEL OF THE HOT WATER BASIN
AT 50 ~ 70MM.
5.4 CHECK THE CIRCULATING WATER LEVEL OF THE COLD WATER
BASIN TO SEE WHETHER IT REMAINS NORMAL.
6. COOLING TOWER OPERATION
6.1 AFTER OPERATION FOR 5 TO 6 DAYS, CHECK THE V-BELT OF THE SPEED REDUCER TO SEE IF IT IS NORMAL. IF IT SLACKENS, TIGHTEN WITH ADJUSTING BOLTS.
6.2 AFTER ONE WEEK OPERATION, RENEW CIRCULATING WATER
TO WASH OUT DIRT OR FOREIGN MATTER STICK TO THE
TOWER OR THE PIPES.
6.3THE COOLING EFFICIENCY MAY MORE OR LESS BE
INFLUENCED BY THE WATER LEVEL OF THE CIRCULATING
WATER BECAUSE OF THIS REASON, MAKE SURE THE WATER
LEVEL OF THE HOT WATER BASIN REMAINS IN ITS FIXED
LEVEL.
6.4 IFTHE WATER LEVEL OF THE COLD WATER BASIN DROPS, IT
MAY AFFECT THE CIRCULATING PUMP AND AIR CONDITIONER.
THEREFORE, MAKE SURE THE WATER LEVEL REMAINS IN ITS
FIXED LEVEL.
6.5 IF EXPERIENCING VIBRATIONS DURING COOLING TOWER
OPERATION, OVERLOADED VOLTAGE OR ABNORMAL
TEMPERATURE RISE, PLEASE CHECK THE TROUBLE
ANALYSIS TABLE TO FIGURE OUT PROBLEM AND SOLUTION.
7. REGULAR MAINTENANCE
CHANGE THE RECIRCULATED WATER ONCE PER MONTH OR WHEN IT GETS DIRTY, IT MUST BE CHANGED. CHANGING THE CIRCULATING WATER DEPENDS ON DENSE SOLID MATTER IN WATER. MEANWHILE, WASH THE INTERIOR OF THE TOWER AND THE WATER PIPES THOROUGHLY. ANY CLOG IN THE WATER PIPES MAY AFFECT THE COOLING EFFICIENCY.
8. SEASONAL SHUTDOWN AND MAINTENANCE
8.1 LOOSEN V-BELT IN THE SPEED REDUCER, AND LUBRICATE THE
SEALED BEARINGS WITH GREASE.
8.2 UNLESS THE CIRCULATION WATER IS DRAINED, IT MAY FREEZE
IN WINTER AND CAUSE THE PIPES TO CRACK. IF THE DRAIN OF
THE DROP-IN TANK IS KEPT OPEN, RAINWATER AND SNOW
WATER WILL NOT ACCUMULATE IN IT.
8.3 AFTER SHUTDOWN THE COOLING TOWER FOR A WHILE, START
OPERATING IT AGAIN. REMEMBER TO CHECK THE MOTOR
INSULATOR TO SEE WHETHER IT WORKS NORMALLY. THEN
REFER TO THE DESCRIPTION ON THE FOURTH SECTION TO
START OPERATION.
TROUBLE ANALYSIS TABLE

6. REMOVE DUST AND SCALE.

3. DROP IN THE WATER LEVEL OF WATER BASIN.
4. IMPROPER SELECTION OF WATER
CIRCULATING PUMP. / 1. SEE ABOVE SECTION FOR MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT.
2. REMOVE STRAINER AND CLEAN.
3. ADJUST FLOAT VALVE.
4. REPLACE THE PUMP WITH ONE MATCHING PLANNED VOLUME OF WATER.
NOISE AND VIBRATION / 1. FAN BLADE TIPS TOUCHING

3. OVERLOAD THROUGH EXCESS AIRFLOW. / 1. CHECK SUPPLY VOLTAGE. NOTIFY POWER COMPANY IF NECESSARY.
2. ADJUST FAN BLADE ANGLES.

WATER CARRY OVER / 1. IRREGULAR OPERATION OF
SPRINKLER PIPES.
2. BLOCKING OF THE FILLING.
