Hello Families and MPS Communities;
My name is Jon Ledeboer and I am the Coordinator of the Go-To Student Pass bus program. I am pleased to report that so far the program has been going quite well. Our students are getting to school, athletic events, and after school activities all over the city! Next fall, students at South and Southwest High Schools will be given Go-To Passes, so that all of our high schools students can take advantage of this opportunity.
Check and Connect (C&C) staff have been monitoring attendance and habitual behavior offenses that may result in suspending the use of the Go-To pass.
We have asked families to assist us in serving you by noting your student’s 7 digit serial number and 16 digit tracking number found on the front of your student’s Go-To Pass.
Minneapolis Public Schools chose to use Metro Transit for the following reasons:
- The Go To pass allows students to use Metro Transit from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m. 7 days a week
- It offers students scheduling flexibility and access to a wide variety of learning opportunities in the community.
- Students have more opportunities to remain at school for academic programs, sports and other activities beyond the regular school day.
- The program supports improved student attendance and retention.
- Student whereabouts may be tracked through Metro Transit’s website (metrotransit.org) with individual serial and tracking numbers on each card
Eligibility rules:
- All transportation-eligible students who attend Edison, Henry, North, Roosevelt, Washburn, Wellstone and Expanded Option students at Southwest have been eligible for a Go-To pass.
- Fall of 2013 South and Southwest High Schools will also have Go-To passes
- Students who live outside the walk-zone in city-wide programs
- Roosevelt- Automotive & Construction, Health
- North- City-Wide School
- Edison- Personal Care & Therapeutic Services
- Students who live within the attendance zone and outside the school walk zone.
- Students who qualify for free/reduced lunch that live inside the attendance zone.
- Students who attend a high school outside of their attendance zone or district are not transportation eligible and will not be eligible for a Go-To Card.
- Depending on availability, students who live inside the walk zone, but do not qualify for the free card, bus cards will be for sale at a reduced rate (Check with C&C).
