Description

-The director will motivate parishioners of all ages to gain a greater understanding of the Catholic faith, deepen their spiritual life, and enable them to preach the Gospel by speaking openly in the world about their relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.

-The director will take a leadership role in designing and implementing programs which will enhance our parish vision as beacon of evangelization and faith formation in our communities.

-This position requires holiness of life, vision, energy, commitment, courage and creativity. Successful candidates will be proficient in organizing and teaching, with exceptional leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

-The ability to work effectively and collaboratively with members of the pastoral and administrative staff, parishioners, parents, volunteers and community leaders is necessary.

-Flexibility with respect to working evenings and weekends is also required.

-An ability to creatively use technology and computer skills is very important.

-The candidate must be an active, practicing Roman Catholic.

Purpose

-Develop, implement, and direct curricula and opportunities for the spiritual and intellectual formation of parishioners of all ages, from those who are taking their first steps toward a relationship with Christ and the Church, to those who are mature disciples of the Lord ready to bring the Good News of Christ and the Church to others.

-The key goals of this position are to foster inner conversion among the faithful, to teach the truths of the Catholic faith, and to develop a community that sustains the practice of the faith, so that our parishioners are formed to evangelize and be authentic disciples of the Lord.

Responsibilities

-Collaborate with the pastor and staff in implementing a vision for evangelization and faith formation.

-Directly responsible for adult education opportunities and RCIA.

-Plans, develops and implements a comprehensive short and long term program to reach the uncatechized, the fallen away, and the unchurched.

-Recruits, trains, motivates and directs faith formation and evangelization volunteers.

-Develops and administers the budget for faith formation and evangelization in collaboration with the pastor, business manager and finance council.

-Promotes active parishioner engagement in parish life and researches and implements ways to motivate inactive parishioners.

-Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required for this ministry through reading, research, and participation in pertinent workshops, classes and conventions.

-Performs other duties as assigned by pastor

Academic Qualifications

-Undergraduate degree in Theology or Education

-Graduate coursework in related ministries not mandatory but helpful

-Experience working in a Catholic environment in Faith Formation and Evangelization

Position Details

-Exempt – Full Time – Salaried position with benefits

-Flexible schedule that includes weekend and evening hours.

-Reports to pastor.
