A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND LIEUTENANT MICHAEL HUNT OF THE AIKEN DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR HIS DEDICATION TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AND HIS DETERMINATION TO KEEP AIKEN COUNTY SAFE, AND TO HONOR HIM FOR HIS RECEIPT OF THE STROM THURMOND AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN LAW ENFORCEMENT ON THE CITY LEVEL.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina are proud to recognize Lieutenant Michael Hunt of the Aiken Department of Public Safety for his recent honor of receiving the Strom Thurmond Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement on the city level; and

Whereas, Lieutenant Michael Hunt has been in law enforcement for almost twenty years and has played an integral part in keeping Aiken County a safe place for its residents; and

Whereas, Lieutenant Hunt is certified through the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy as a specific skill preparatory instructor and is certified through the Department of Public Safety as a field training officer; and

Whereas, Lieutenant Hunt has been instrumental in the successful implementation of the Aiken Bloodhound Tracking Team which has apprehended more than 1,200 criminals in over 1,400 calls since 1985; and

Whereas, Lieutenant Hunt has solicited the aid of the North Augusta Department of Public Safety and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office to assemble a tracking team to benefit county residents; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations so that they might recognize the perseverance and professionalism of so distinguished a South Carolinian as Lieutenant Michael Hunt of the Aiken Department of Public Safety upon his receipt of the Strom Thurmond Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend Lieutenant Michael Hunt of the Aiken Department of Public Safety for his dedication to law enforcement and his determination to keep Aiken County safe, and honor him for his receipt of the Strom Thurmond Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement on the city level.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Lieutenant Michael Hunt of the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
