O R D E R

The Delhi Medical Council through its Executive Committee examined a complaint of Smt. Savita Jain, w/o, Shri Sanjeev Jain, 517/36, Onkar Nagar,-C, Trinagar, Delhi-110035, forwarded by the Medical Council of India, alleging medical negligence on the part of Dr. A.K. Gupta and Dr. P.K. Pradhan, in the treatment administered to the complainant at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi.

The Order of the Executive Committee dated 17th November, 2016 is reproduced herein-below:

“The Executive Committee of the Delhi Medical Council examined a complaint of Smt. Savita Jain, w/o, Shri Sanjeev Jain, 517/36, Onkar Nagar,-C, Trinagar, Delhi-110035(referred hereinafter as the complainant), forwarded by the Medical Council of India, alleging medical negligence on the part of Dr. A.K. Gupta and Dr. P.K. Pradhan, in the treatment administered to the complainant at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi (referred hereinafter as the said Hospital).

The Executive Committee perused the complaint, written statement of Medical Superintendent of Maharaja Agrasen Hospital enclosing therewith joint written statement of Dr. Ashok K. Gupta and Dr. Prashant Pradhan, copy of medical records of Maharaja Agrasen Hospital and other documents on record.

The Executive Committee notes that the treatment at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital as per records is for Pin Hole Urethral meatus (infra vesical obstruction). The treatment modality/modalities adapted are as per standard of care. The Hospital stay was uneventful. Patient had comorbidities of Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension, which

can expose the patient to short term, treatable complication like dysuria (Pain) and infection (UTI).

The treatment at Tirath Ram Hospital is for stress incontinence and has nothing to do with complications. It is pertinent to mention that ‘Urethral Stenosis’ and ‘Stress incontinance’ can coexist also.

In view of the observation made hereinabove, it is, therefore, the decision of the Executive Committee that primafacie no case of medical negligence is made out on the part of Dr. A.K. Gupta and Dr. P.K. Pradhan, of Maharaja Agrasen Hospital , in the treatment administered to the complainant at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital.

Complaint stands disposed.”
