GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

SITUATION

1. Candidates on the DP 3A course are required to direct range practices in the field. In order to be able to participate in this type of range practice, candidates must confirm that their personal weapons are zeroed and complete PWT 3.

MISSION

2. All candidates on the DP 3A course will participate in the C7 range practice at BATOCHE Range on 25 Jul 12 in order to zero their personal weapons.

EXECUTION

3. Concept of Operations.

a. Intention. It is my intent that candidates on the DP 3A course will zero their personal weapons before participating in future range practices and field firing exercises.

b. Scheme of Manoeuvre. This range practice will consist of 3 phases.

Phase 1: Deployment;

Phase 2: Conduct of the practice. The firers will be divided into six relays. One relay will be in the marker's gallery (butts) operating the targets, one will be on the firing line, three will be in the background activities area zeroing their AN/PAQ-4s, and one will be on standby in the administration area; and

Phase 3: Tear-down, clearance and redeployment to base.

c. Main Effort. The main effort will be on the accuracy and consistency of round groupings for effective zeroing.

d. End State. The final state will be reached once all firers are satisfied with the zeroing of their weapon, the range is clear, and all participants and staff have returned to the base.

4. Groupings and Tasks. The following personnel have been designated as range safety staff:

a.  OIC Practice/Exercise and/or RSO: Sgt Gauthier;

b.  Range 2IC: Sgt Perras;

c.  ARSO: Sgt Renaud;

d.  ARSO: Sgt St-Pierre;

e.  ARSO: Sgt Gagné;

f.  Background Activities NCO: Sgt Bolduc-Leblanc; and

g.  Marker's Gallery (Butts) NCO: Sgt Gadbois.

5. Coordinating Instructions.

a.  Timings: See Annex A.

LOGISTICAL SUPPORT

6. Dress and Equipment. All firers must have in their possession the following eqpt:

a. Personal weapon (C7);

b. 5 x Magazines;

c. Tactical vest or FFO;

d. BEWs;

e. Hearing protection; and

f. PPE to include Kevlar helmet.

7. Rations. Box lunches will be distributed to all firers and range staff. Coffee, juice and water will also be available.

8. Transport. All firers will be transported by bus IAW the timings. No civilian vehicles will be authorized on the range, with the exception of the Crew Cab belonging to the course.
