Cincinnati Bell Inc. Policies and Procedures for Physical and/or Network Access
Entry into the company buildings and electronic access into company computer systems is restricted to authorized personnel only. Authorized persons are given a badge and/or a computer login ID and password to facilitate entry into the company. This document describes the responsibilities, rules and requirements for any person issued a badge or computer login ID and password. Personnel entering the company thru computer systems are required to adhere to the same rules and acceptable use policies as they do if physically entering a building with their badge.
All employees, contractors, tenants, and CLECs must visibly wear their Photo ID card at all times while on Company property. The ID is properly worn above the waist and with the photo facing out. Do not wear the ID on your belt, or carry it in your pocket, wallet or purse. Personnel given a computer login ID are not permitted to share their password with anyone. Your login ID is your identity and is to be protected.
Your ID identifies you as someone who is authorized to be on the premises. If you are not wearing your ID, you are suspect and may be challenged. Violations reported to Security Department will be referred to your manager or sponsor for further action, which may result in disciplinary action up to, and including, dismissal.
Your Photo ID/Keycard also allows you to access Cincinnati Bell locations that are equipped with card readers. Employees may arrange for temporary access by calling 397- KEYS. Non-employees (contractors, job bank, CLECs, etc.) must have their CBT sponsor call to request access.
If your Photo ID/Keycard is lost or stolen, call 397-KEYSimmediately to have your keycard deactivated and to make arrangements for a new card. There is a $10.00 charge for replacement of a lost card. This must be paid before a replacement will be issued. When you are no longer employed by Cincinnati Bell, your Photo ID/Keycard must be returned to the Security Department, within five business days, to avoid replacement charges.
Card Access Security System – Card Reader Instructions
Never allow another person to enter a Cincinnati Bell facility on your card swipe. Each person must enter using his/her own Photo ID/Keycard. Violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action up to, and including, dismissal.
The Pegasys Card Access System utilizes two types of card readers. The first is the standard card-swipe reader. The second is a card-swipe reader with an adjunct keypad for entering a personal identification number (PIN). You may obtain your PIN by calling 397-KEYS. Do not affix your PIN to your ID or disclose your PIN to anyone else.
To operate the standard card reader, hold your Keycard at the top-center with the photo facing you. Place the lower-left corner of the Keycard into the right corner of the card reader slot. With a slight downward pressure, slide the card to the left through the slot. Proper operation requires quick movement of the card. An incomplete swipe, a slow swipe, or a lifting or tilting of the card may cause a misread. If access is granted, the green light will illuminate, and the door will open. You must open the door immediately upon receiving the green light. You must also close the door within 30 seconds to prevent a silent alarm being sent to our AlarmCenter. If you must have a door open longer than 30 seconds, call 397-KEYS, to advise before opening the door. If access is not granted, you will receive a red light. Try to swipe your card in the reader again. If you still receive the red light, call 397-KEYS, for assistance.
To operate the keypad-type reader, first press the pound (#) key to clear the keypad, then carefully enter your PIN. If you make a mistake, press he pound (#) key and re-enter your PIN. Once your PIN has been correctly entered, swipe your Keycard as you would in a standard reader. Each keypad-type reader that gives access into an area also has an associated standard “out” reader. You must swipe your Keycard in the “out” reader before exiting to prevent a silent alarm at the AlarmCenter, and to prevent denial of access into other buildings.
The number nine (9) is used as a duress code. If you are ever in a threatening situation at a Central Office or need help, enter your PIN, replacing any one digit in your PIN with the number 9, to send a duress alarm to the Alarm Center. For example, if your PIN is 1234, enter 9234 or 1934 or 1294 or 1239 and then swipe your card in the reader and the alarm is sent. 9999 will not send an alarm. It must be your regular PIN with one digit replaced with 9. Our AlarmCenter will then attempt to call the facility, ask for the person who sent the alarm, and verify the last 5 digits of your SSN. If you are in trouble, give false SSN information and law enforcement will be dispatched. If there is no answer, law enforcement will be dispatched, so please pick up the phone if it is ringing. If you should enter a nine (9) accidentally, please call 397-KEYS, immediately to avoid police dispatch.
I have read and agree to adhere to the policies and procedures of CBI’s building and network access. I also give consent for CBI to perform background screeningswhile I am actively employed as a contractor on their behalf.
