Design Project Manger

Role Description:

To manage projects through the design process ensuring we meet or exceed customer expectations at all times. Manage new projects by ensuring accurate and up to date data is ready and available prior to the design work starting as well as managing reworks as and when required without disrupting the overall efficiency of the process. Process payments and confirm delivery details with customers, whilst managing a portfolio of completed projects ready to be delivered. Responsible for ensuring the best use of design resource, in conjunction with the Senior Designer, by prioritising work in the design process. To be the main, internal and external, customer contact on project queries.
Responsible to: Design Manager
This is a challenging role that is essential to the smooth running of the business. It’s not necessary to have a logistical or design background but excellent organisational and administrative skills and a motivation to do the job well are essential. You will be expected to work within the ‘Runner or Repeater’ process within the domestic area of the business. As well as maintaining contact with customers you will be expected to pro-actively work with internal staff to ensure that the project is ready to be delivered on time. You will also be expected to contribute towards improving the process and feeding back any efficiency gains you feel can be made.
You will advise your manager of your personal development needs and training requirements.

Activities

Manage Workload

/ ·  Pro-actively contact customers to gain accurate design information
·  Manage schedules with customers ensuring that we have sufficient design capacity
·  Monitor projects to ensure delivery dates are met effectively
·  Liaise with customers regarding the shipment of goods following design of the system
·  Confirm pricing and goods supplied with customers and other stakeholders
·  Manage customer accounts and take payments
·  Ensure that the full design capacity of the business is effectively used
·  Liaise with customers, both internal and external, to ensure stakeholders are aware of project progress

Process Management

/ ·  Monitor process KPI’s and highlight potential issues
·  Participate in regular process review sessions to ensure that we are as efficient as possible
·  Pro-actively reduce quality errors by working with the Senior Designer, Project Engineer & Design Manager to implement process changes
·  Conduct regular meetings with sales team members to update on project design timescales

Quality Control

/ ·  Ensuring that all necessary information has been supplied to the customer by making final checks and seeking drawing approval prior to releasing the system to the deliveries team
·  Ensuring that the customer has sufficient time to pay for goods without causing delays to shipping
·  Maintain Pareto analysis charts on errors
·  Monitor TAKT performance

Effective Communication

/ ·  Maintain excellent working relationships with all members of staff/ teams that you work with
·  Ensure customer service is maintained to the highest standard at all times through efficient handling of telephone calls and emails
·  Liaise with customers, both internal and external, to ensure stakeholders are aware of project progress

Desirable but not essential:
·  Construction industry knowledge
·  Experience in a similar role or Logistics
·  5 GCSE’s (graded A-C inc. Maths & English)
·  Use of AutoCAD
