Leah Walker was born before 1775 and died in Nicholas County VA
before 1830. She authorized the marriage of her daughter Eliza to John
Mosbarger in 1826. She was listed in the March 29, 1823 Personal
Property Tax List, of Nicholas County with 1 white male over 16 years of
age. She had no animals and did not pay any taxes. On May 19, 1824, she
is again listed with 1 white male over 16, no animals, and did not pay
any taxes. On March 22, 1825, she is listed again as in 1824.
Her spouse is unknown. They may have moved from NH to VA. According
to B.F. Bowen's "Biographical Memoirs of Hancock County IN", Leah's son
Seth was born in NH.

3.SOLON WALKER 1.LEAH WALKER
Solon Walker, a son of Leah Walker, was born in 1800 and died about
1854. He married Elizabeth Cart in Nicholas County VA December 28, 1828.
Elizabeth, a daughter of John and Susannah (Daugherty) Cart, was born in
1809.
Solon is listed in "VA Land Grants & Patents" for getting 100 acres
of land on the waters of the Elk River September 13, 1823. In the 1820
Nicholas County, VA (WV) census, Solon is listed as one of 3 males
between 16-26 years of age in Ira Walker's household.
The family is listed in the 1850 Braxton County VA census. Solon,
Elizabeth, John, Seth and Susan do not appear in the 1860 Braxton
Census.

4.SETH WALKER 1.LEAH WALKER
Seth Walker, a son of Leah Walker, was born September 09, 1801 in NH
and died July 19, 1874 in Hancock County, IN. He married Mary "Polly"
Childers January 12, 1825 in Gallia County, OH. Mary, a daughter of
Mosby and Elizabeth (Jeffries) Childers, was born March 14, 1800 in
Mason County, VA and died July 24, 1841 in Brown Township, Hancock
County, IN.
Seth married Elizabeth Rodgers February 03, 1842 in Henry County,
IN. She died about 1859. Elizabeth was born in SC in 1824 and died March
25, 1871.
Seth married Elizabeth (-----) Cass after 1860. She was reportedly known
as "the widow Cass" when they were married.
Seth is listed in the 1820 Nicholas County, VA census. He is listed in
the 1830 Gallia County, OH census in the Raccoon district.
On October 17, 1831 Seth sold his Nicholas County VA land to his
brother Joel for $1.
In the Bureau of Land Management, General Land Office Records, in the
Indiana web site, Seth Walker received a patent on September 2, 1834,
Document # 13403. He also received one on October 20, 1834, Document #
14673. Both were in Hancock County, IN.

Eliza Walker, a daughter of Leah Walker, was born November 15, 1809
and died April 06, 1888 in Worth County, MO. She married John Mosbarger
January 05, 1826 in Nicholas County, VA (WV). John, a son of Joseph
Mossbarger, was born February 21, 1806 and died September 13, 1876 in
Worth County MO.
Eliza's mother Leah signed a note authorizing the county clerk to
let her marry John. It reads: " To the Clerk of Nicholas County Court,
please to issue a license for John Mosbarger to marry my daughter, Eliza
Walker. This shall be your sufficient authority for so doing." "Given
under my hand, this 5 day of January, 1826." "Leah Walker. Teste Solon
Walker and Joel Walker"
Their marriage license began with, "Know all men by these Presents,
that we John Mosberger and Solon Walker are held and firmly bound unto
James Pleasants, Governor of Virginia and his successors for the use of
the Commonwealth, in the sum of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars, to which
payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs,
executors and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these
presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated this 11th day of January,
1826." It was sealed with John and Solon's signature.
November 1, 1833 - John Mosbarger got a VA land grant for 104 acres west
of Strange Creek in present day Braxton County WV.
November 1, 1833 - John got a VA land grant for 50 acres on the south of
Elk River with Joel Walker
John and Eliza are in the 1840 Gallia County OH and in the 1850
Huntington Township, Gallia County OH.
John Mosbarger of Gentry County, MO, purchased 154 acres from the US
Government in April 2, 1857, through the BLM.

Joel B. "Buzz" Walker, a son of Solon and Elizabeth (Cart) Walker,
was born in Nicholas County VA May 4, 1831 and died in Clay County WV
July
25, 1893. Joel was married to Mary Louisa Friend March 19, 1857 in
Braxton County VA by Rev. G.W. Perrine. Mary, a daughter of Andrew S.
and Malinda F.
(Williams) Friend, was born October 1, 1840 and died January 21, 1911.
In the Clay County, VA (WV) court records in 1856, Joel is listed as
the "surviving obligor" of Solon Walker, having to pay his debt.
The family is listed in the 1860, 1870 and 1880 Clay County WV census.
Louisa is listed in the 1900 Clay County census and a 59 year old widow,
the mother of 10 children, 8 of whom are living.

10.GEORGE WALKER 3.SOLON WALKER 1.LEAH WALKER
George Walker, a son of Solon and Elizabeth (Cart) Walker, was born
in
Braxton County VA (WV) February 12, 1834 and died in a Union Prisoner of
War Camp at Alton IL March 17, 1863.
George served the Confederacy in the Civil War in County L 14th VA
Cavalry. He enlisted in Braxton County October 4, 1862. He was captured
in Greenbrier County VA November 26, 1862. He was sent to Wheeling,
transferred to Camp Chase at Columbus, OH and then to Alton, IL where he
died of pneumonia March 17, 1863. He is buried in the Confederate
Cemetery at Alton.
George was described as 28 years of age, 5 feet, nine inches tall with
dark complexion, blue eyes, black hair, a farmer from Clay County VA.
George married Elizabeth Sirk March 12, 1857. Elizabeth, a daughter of
John and Margaret (Riffle) Sirk, was born August 09, 1835 in Braxton
County VA and died February 29, 1920.
Elizabeth Sirk, a daughter of John and Margaret (Riffle) Sirk, was
born in Braxton County VA (WV) August 9, 1835 and died February 29,
1920.
After George's death Elizabeth married Patrick Ryan, who was shot
shortly after their marriage. She also had an out of wedlock child by
Elliot Mollohan. This child went by the name Walker.
