DENVER BRONCOS QUOTES (9/20/17)

SAFETY JUSTIN SIMMONS

On Buffalo’s offense

“I would say the challenge is going into Buffalo. They create a lot of problems offensively. [Buffalo QB] Tyrod Taylor does a great job of escaping the pocket when there’s pressure and extending plays with his leg. In the secondary, we’re going to have to be able to cover it twice. Also, for guys that are in zone coverage or things like that, we’re going have to be able to step up and limit his ability to get first downs escaping the pocket. That’s one, and LeSean McCoy does a great job of finding the open holes and extending plays with his legs. You watch the film and there may be two plays in a row where they get negative yards and then that next play they go down for 25 yards and it’s a first down. We’re going to have to be sound gap-wise as well. Looking forward to the challenge though.”

On whether Sunday’s game is a ‘trap’ game

“Not at all. Defensively, none of the guys are overlooking them. They’re a talented group, especially on offense. They get after it. They’re only averaging 12 points per game, but they’re explosive. They’re only one play away from being an explosive team. You watch the tape. They have an elite running back and elite quarterback. They have play makers in their wide receivers and especially at tight end they can go make plays for them.”

On playing away games

“Nothing’s like playing at Mile High, but road games are awesome too. It’s great when you’re able to have that affect to quiet the crowd and go into someone else’s house and get a ‘W.’ Road games are definitely a good time.”

On the plane ride home after a road victory

“It’s the best. Everyone’s geeked up. The great thing about this team is that they really know how to enjoy a win and then the next day come back and really get to work after watching the film. That plane ride home is great.”

On Buffalo’s offense comparing to Denver’s offense the past two seasons

“It’s very similar. Obviously there are some minor differences. That being that Tyrod Taylor is a little but more of a runner. He does a great job of extending plays like I said. When his first or second read isn’t there, he’s able to allude the pocket and escape pressure. Like I said, either extend the play with his legs or extend the play, flush out and throw the deep ball because he has a strong arm as well. It’s definitely a big challenge defensively, so we’re looking forward to it.”
