Claude Beaver opened the July 14, 2014 Northern Berks Regional Police Commission Meeting at 7:01 PM in the Ontelaunee Township Meeting Room.

MINUTES – May 12, 2014 Commission Meeting

Charles Berger made a motion, seconded by Gary Hadden, to approve the May 12, 2014 Commission meeting minutes. All Commissioners voted, “Aye.” Motion carried.

TREASURER’S REPORT

Ruth Manmiller presented the May 2014 Treasurer’s Report that included the fund balances, year to date budget report, and documentation of all transactions and payment of bills.

Gary Hadden made a motion, seconded by Charles Berger, to approve the May 2014 Treasurer’s Report. All Commissioners voted, “Aye.” Motion carried.

Ruth Manmiller presented the June 2014 Treasurer’s Report that included the fund balances, year to date budget report, and documentation of all transactions and payment of bills.

The Chief read the May 2014 and June 2014 Activity Report and commented on the following;

The testing of the new radios will begin 8/1/2014

The DCED study is progressing, provided information as requested

New #9 – Detective Horner’s vehicle is in service

Two police vehicles have arrived, equipment has been ordered to prepare for service

BUSINESS FROM THE FLOOR

Richard Reilly, 67 Katylyn Lane, Reading expressing his appreciation to the Police as well as Ontelaunee Township for taking action to remove vehicles – some abandoned, some out of inspection and or registration, and vehicles dropping fluids. It now looks like a residential neighborhood should look.

OLD BUSINESS

Per Ronald Mohl, the joint recognition of Berks County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #71 for the Northern Berks Regional Police Association will be accomplished in 2015 by a simple letter being submitted to the PA Labor Relations Board.

FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER

Chief Eaken questioned if Leesport Borough had acted on Glen Moyer’s resignation that he read about in the newspaper. Charles Berger mentioned that Glen Moyer’s resignation will be acted upon at their upcoming meeting Wednesday night.

Charles Berger thanked everyone involved in having the Vascar Lines painted in Leesport Borough. Chief Eaken informed him the Sgt. Mohl designated the locations and the Borough Manager hired the painting service.
