Definitions

Task 1: Key requirements
This task will require you to describe the key purpose and one key requirement of each the following statutes and regulations that underpin your practice as a support worker in MHA services:
·  Health and Disability Commissioner (Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights) Regulations 1996.
·  Human Rights Act 1993.
·  Privacy Act 1993.
A  Describe the key purpose of the Health and Disability Commissioner (Code of Health and Disability Service Consumers’ Rights) Regulations 1996.
Describe one key requirement of the Health and Disability Commissioner (Code of Health and Disability Service Consumers’ Rights) Regulations 1996.
B  Describe the key purpose of the Human Rights Act 1993.
Describe one key requirement of the Human Rights Act 1993.
C  Describe the key purpose of the Privacy Act 1993.

This task will require you to describe statutes, regulations and standards that define the role and restrictions on support workers in MHA services in relation to:
·  prescribing medication.
·  dispensing medication.
·  administering of medication.

·  Medicines Regulations 1984.
·  Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992.
·  Misuse of Drugs Act 1975.
·  Misuse of Drugs Regulations 1977.
·  NZS 8134.0:2008 Health and disability services Standards.
A  Describe how one relevant statute, regulation, or standard related to prescribing medication places restrictions on the role of support workers in MHA services.
B  Describe how one relevant statute, regulation, or standard related to dispensing medication places restrictions on the role of support workers in MHA services.
C  Describe how one relevant statute, regulation, or standard related to administering medication places restrictions on the role of support workers in MHA services.
