INTRODUCTION

1. Following a decision not to renew the current contract for the employment of military secondary healthcare nurses and allied health professionals with Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals Foundation Trust (PSHFT), the Ministry of Defence Hospital Unit (Peterborough) (MDHU(P)) will close on 31 Jul 14.

REDESIGNATION OF COMMAND AUTHORITY

2. Defence Medical Group personnel under the command of MDHU(P) at other hospitals including the Oxford University Hospitals Foundation Trust will fall under the command of other Defence Medical Group Units:

a. Defence Medical Group consultants based at PSHFT, Oxford University Trust, Norfolk & Norwich University Hospitals Trust, Nottingham University Hospitals Trust and Cambridge University Hospitals Trust have been placed under the command of Royal Centre for Defence Medicine with effect from 1 Feb 14.

b. Defence Medical Group consultants based at Barking, Havering & Redbridge Trust, Mid Essex Hospitals Trust and West Suffolk Hospital have been placed under the command of Ministry of Defence Hospital Unit (Frimley Park) with effect from 1 Feb 14.

c. Defence Medical Group (Oxford) Nursing personnel, will be under the command of Royal Centre for Defence Medicine from 1 Apr 14. They will be re-designated as RCDM(Oxford).

d. Single Service Medical trainees at PSHFT will complete their training in situ and will remain under the command of their respective sS Medical Training Establishments.

3. The remaining established liability of MDHU(P) including the HQ will be transferred primarily to other Defence Medical Group Units. However, it should be noted that the single Service Manning authorities are responsible for reassigning personnel. All personnel less Military Consultants and sS Medical Trainees will be assigned out of MDHU(P) no later than the 31 Jul 14.

RECORDS

4. Administrative Records. On closure all Administrative, Contractual and Financial records requiring retention will be filed on the Defence Medical Group MERIDIO site. Hard copy records that are to be retained will be held by TNT Archive Services. For access to Electronic or Hard Copy records, requests are to be directed to Staff Assistant DMG.

PROPERTY

5. Military Property. All military inventory items will be disposed of in accordance with JSP 886 Vol 4 Para 5.

6. Gifts given to MDHU(P). Items that have been gifted to the Unit since 1996 will be available to be reclaimed through ||||||| ||||||||||||, Unit Warrant Officer, ||||||||||| |||||||||||||. Those items that are not reclaimed will be offered to other Units. Otherwise, gifts will be disposed of in accordance with Chapter 16 of JSP 462. Their disposal will be catalogued and recorded on the Unit’s F540 which will be held by the RAF Historical Records Branch.
