The Sampo, the world's only tourist icebreaker, operates on the northern Gulf of Bothnia out of Kemi in Finnish Lapland.

The frozen Arctic landscape, the winter darkness, the crackling frost and the clear starry skies with their Aurora Borealis offer visitors a unique experience in the midst of untamed nature. In late winter the sun appears in all its glory, painting the landscape a dazzling white - freshness and warmth to invigorate the traveller.

During the cruise you can also enjoy service facilities like Captain´s Saloon, Icebreaker Bar, Arctic Restaurant and Lapponia Shop for souvenirs.

Lunch is served on board

On the open sea we stop the ship and move onto the ice. The feeling aroused by the deep, quiet sea under the ice below your feet is indescribable with words. The bolder amongst us can try ice swimming in the black water dressed in a water-tight thermal suit - extraordinary to look at, but completely safe!
