Adventure Sleepover 2014
Welcoming you to the 25thAnnual Sleepover!

Dear Beaver Leader:

Over the years, the White Tail Beavers in Voyageur Council have enjoyed a special “right of passage” towards Cubs by participating in our Annual Museum Sleepover hosted by Carleton Area. The Canadian Museum of History has some very exciting activities to share with you during your stay.

The Sleepover highlights include one huge Opening Ceremony, rotated activities in different parts of the museum, mug-up, and the evening ends with a Singsong with about 250 other 7-year-old Beavers, their Leaders, and Parent Helpers. After finding your way back to your sleeping area, and a few hours of sleep, you’ll be packing up your gear and starting again after our 6:00 A.M. wake-up call. We participate in another round of 4 activities (one being breakfast), and conclude with our Closing. We are out of the museum by 9:15A.M.

The Beavers have a great time and go back to their Colonies to tell the Brown and Blue Tails all about their adventure, so they too can anticipate this event when they become White Tails.

Ratio/Leadership:

Per Scouts Canada policies, all groups attending must have two-deep leadership while maintaining ratio per BP&P.

It is every group’s responsibility to ensure that Scouts Canada’s policies for Child & Youth Safety are adhered to within their colony during this event.

Cost:

The cost is $27 for each Beaver, Leader and Parent. This covers the museum rental, activities, snack, breakfast, and a crest. Because we have been booked to capacity for the past several years, it is a good idea to get the registration money at the beginning of the Beaver year and get it to Kippy quickly.

Registration:

Registration will be confirmed upon receipt of both your completed registration form and payment. Email reservations will not be accepted. Please mail or drop off your completed group registration form with a cheque for the full amountto Kippy Charbonneau (address is on the registration form).

Arriving:

The event begins with check-in from 6:00 to 6:15P.M.(your whole group must be together) and finishes the next morning before 9:15A.M. Please do not arrive at the Museum too early. We are not able to open the doors until 6:00P.M. If you do happen to arrive early and the weather is inclement, the parking garage will provide you with shelter. Entrance to the parking garage is free for parents who are dropping their Beaver(s) off, provided you are in the garage for at most 20 minutes. Overnight parking will cost $6 per vehicle.

You will enter the Museum by the Group Entrance on the north side of the building - watch for the signs. Please park in the lot at the side of the Museum. All Beavers and Leaders are to be in full uniform.

Allergies - Mug-Up/Breakfast:

No outside food or drinks are permitted to be brought into the museum for this event.

Food/drinks may be consumed in the cafeteria only. This is a museum rule and we must enforce it.

Where allergies require that special food be supplied by a parent, that food must be well labelled and given to the registrar at check-in. All allergies must be listed on the colony’s registration form. Please provide equivalents to what is being served to the other youth attending the event (juice, rice krispie square, cereal with milk, muffin, apples and oranges).
